Very strange and surreal night. Remember driving home with a mate after that game. Normally we'd talk about the football but all our minds were on was what had happened in America that day. Was weirder for me as I was between jobs at the time and had watched the whole thing unfold on the television that night.

Think there were other games on that night as I seem to remember West Ham getting knocked out of the League Cup on penalties. Think the Football League got heavily crticised for not cancelling games that night as a mark of respect.
