Stafford Match

Recommended Posts

I thought we showed complacency tonight. We didn't exactly have a supremely arrogant swagger, but I don't think we were 100% on the job, as we expected, after the heroics against Grays and Cambridge etc, that this would be such an easy affair. After a certain while, we tried to up our game, but Stafford had already stamped their authority on the game and wouldn't let us back into it. If we had played 100% from the word 'go', I think it would have been a different story.

I agree that Sacha was not good- his balls down the left-wing were pretty pointless. Chris Anderson looked promising, however, and the usuals put their effort in.

We'll have games like this though. I can live with being 2 points off of the playoffs, a third of the way into the season- in August, I would have snatched at this place with both hands!

Let's just leave last night to lie and get back to winning ways at Burton, which I can't make due to 'financial irregularies.'

What exactly did he do that was seriously wrong?

...and to top it all off I notice the scum that think its clever to break into cars are getting bolder and nearer the ground. On Saturday I saw at least 3 cars had been done as I drove round by the road along the new station, and Tuesday a ranger Rover had been done which was right near the ground. I live in Maidstone so I have to drive to the ground. I am either going to have to find somewhere else to park (more public away from the ground) or stop coming.

Scary idea, why don't the police do something about it after all they would only have to wander up and down there for 105 minutes once or twice a week. Oh silly me, what was I thinking!

Is this anything to do with the 'Millwall' lot? They all seem alright at the ground, they contribute to the atmosphere, but I overheard them talking on Tuesday night about 'finding the away fan's cars' at 'Northfleet Station'. Are they joking, or are these the culprits? It would surprise me, as they seem to be fine at the ground, but that's what I heard.

Certainly on those few occasions we have a police presence inside the ground, you would think one of them could be spared to patrol the surroundings roads.

Saturday we had quite a heavy police presence inside the ground, needless to say there was no violence. Outside the ground however there were no police and crimes were committed. Would it be too much to ask for them to patrol the area?

Although we may not have seen or heard of them patrolling the area or even catching people I don't think we can say it hasn't been done. They should do everything they can to catch one f them and then make a big deal of it to make others think again.

Grow up Darren, what would you have done hit me?

seeing as you two seem to be the Fleets resident Punch and Judy.

Maybe a bit of hitting with sticks , sausage nicking and croc baiting could be arranged. May add a few onto the attendances.

Increasing attendances - thats the way to do it !

Looking at the stats on BBC, I think a draw would have been a fairer result:

Possesion:

Gravesend 52% - 48% Stafford Rangers

Shots On Target:

Gravesend 8 - 4 Stafford Rangers

Shots Off Target:

Gravesend 6 - 1 Stafford Rangers

Corners:

Gravesend 11 - 6 Stafford Rangers

Fouls:

Gravesend 17 - 21 Stafford Rangers

More possesion, more shots (Gravesend had 14 shots on goal, Stafford had 5) and more corners. Seems like we lacked the finishing, although their goalkeeper was fantastic on the night, and Sacha's deliveries in to the box were not his best.

Well, first half he let free kicks go their way, very harsh on us, up until the point we were losing 3-1, some of the decisions went our way and he got his book out.
I can't remember much of the match, don't really want to, the mind is focused on Burton away.

The only slight problem with that argument is that the stats are of course complete [****!!****].

Stafford only had 4 shots on target did they? I seem to remember Lance making at least three top quality saves and they still managed to score 4 goals.

Maybe we deserved a draw on the BBC but in real life Stafford were well worth the win.

Sorry, I should have known BBC are b*ll*cks! Hence them saying, back in August, that Sacha was ready to play, and for Stafford game, BBC said Ross Smith was available.
