The Urchin Colts beat Risden Wood at Harlow yesterday afternoon by 9 1 on a bright sunny afternoon in the Pelly Cup 1st Round.

The young Urchins were rampant from the off with Taylor Smith netting in the 3rd minute after a good run by Perry Burns. The second was nodded home in the 16th minute by Centre Half Steve Green from a corner, the third tucked home by Joe Stanton in the 42nd after a move started in our own penalty box.

Post half time our lads took their foot off the pedal slightly producing a good goal from our hosts who were obviously lifted by the prospect of pulling the game back.

This only lasted a brief time however as the Urchins passing game was stepped up somewhat producing a brace from Perry Burns in the 52nd and 66th minutes, the latter after a move encompassing 20 passes.

Further strikes came from Taylor Smith in the 72nd, a deserved brace from Alex Ievoli in the 75th and 86th minutes and a 25yarder from a very impressive Charlie Clark, a left back who was always willing to join the attack and the Urchins were then well and truly on their way to the next round at either Clacton Town or Epping.

The beauty of this squad is their passing game and the ability to hold possession for long spells which is encouraged by the Manager Tony Ievoli and orchestrated from the midfield by Captain Michael Ramkin.

The next two Sundays see the Colts against Dagenham and Redbridge, next week at Ilford Wanderers and at the Stadium in a fortnight.

I can only say that those sitting at home watching TV are missing out.
