Football websites

Having had a moan on another thread about a couple of club websites, thought I'd have another go here!

I tried to find out the draw time for the Vase on the FA website, with no luck. That must be one of the worst for actually being able to find things on. Why should you have to click on FA Cup to find out about the vase and the trophy?

I don't like websites that flash - bad for the eyes, or ones where the information is so deeply hidden that it is impossible to find. Some try to be too clever with all the latest gizmos, bells & whistles, but if you have a basic PC you can't use them. Finally, ones which are not kept up to date are a complete waste of web space.

Websites should be clear, easy to use and up to date.

Moan over.

Who do you all think has the best website in each of our divisions (and the worst)?

Just had a look at your site. Pretty impressive. Loads of info and upto date as well.

Better than ours at Canvey. (bet that comment will go down well)

The old Canvey website used to be excellent, but didn't the club decide they could do better themselves? And didn't they actually ban the supporters that used to do it from the ground? What was all that about?

Our old site was excellent and gave excellent reports of all the matches and the goings on of the team. Trouble was the then manager (Jeff King) only liked the glowing reports and not the downbeat ones.

I beleive the web masters were asked to tone down some of the reports and not give any negative information but they wanted to state the facts - we played bad they reported it.

All three were consequently banned from the ground and the site was closed down.

Ian now runs this site and the Hornchurch site - a great loss to Canvey!!

Matt has come back to the club and does some piccies for us.

Our official site does now have pretty good match reports that give both the highs and lows of the matches and they are done on the whole by Dave (aka YELLOW).

The other info on there though I personally beleive to be a bit basic and not always upto date.

The Kingsbury website is back up and running for those that are interested (none)
It is the most up-to-date it has ever been although it no longer has the pictures of the re-developed Silver Jubilee Park that Gavin so enjoyed.

That's a lot better, though I do miss the pic of your stand. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I see the forum is getting used as well.

I had looked on the site yesterday to try to find some info on the team, but it seems that, like another that has been mentioned, it is not kept upto date. The last match info (some pics) was for 16th September.

If anyone who uses Firefox can get the buttons within the frames to work, please let me know what delights I am missing out on.

HTFCew - This is the response I got from our Website Manager pasted in, make of it what you will as it is way beyond my intellect. Have you also been into our Forum, there is a section for photographs with a number from the legendary friendly in August:

I do actually check that it works in IE from time to time :-P ...and the buttons within the frames work fine. Tell the member of the public to update his/her flash player/settings (they are all flash buttons within the frames). Hope that helps.
