The Great Ryan Redford

Recommended Posts

Who, never heard of him, isn't that Horace's set standard reply. By the way I didn't know you played at the Glenridge Stadium, have you changed the name from Hertingfordbury Park:

Five Star Redford Fires Blues:

Hertford took their goal tally to an incredible 16 in just two games with a 7-1 demolition of Royston at the Glenridge Stadium. Ryan Redford was the Blues hero hitting five to take his season total to sixteen. Scott Neilson and Lee Roberts were Hertford's other scorers as Dave Greenwood's side went second in the table two points behind Harefield United. London Colney are fifth despite being held to a goaless draw by Haringey Borough. Welwyn Garden City also earned a share of the points Alex Kinsley and Peter Okechukwa on target for the Citizens in the 2-2 draw with Kingsbury. St Margaretsbury's recent revival came to an end with a 2-0 reverse at Tring Athletic. Colney Heath continue to impress an own goal and a Lee Rickard strike setting up their third win in a row 2-1 at Holmer Green. A poor day at the office for Hoddesdon in Division One Peter Ulatowski's goal couldn't prevent the Lilywhites going down 2-1 to high flying Stony Stratford at Lowfield.

Unlike your favourites, Rhodes, Mr Redford is setting the (SSMFL) world alight, with his goalscoring exploits - 20 now in 12 starts -not bad eh? SSMFL Premier leading scorer with 16 goals by 7 October!

Bet the other Premier Div sides have heard of him!

My comment about having not heard of him was very much tongue in cheek, of course I have and clearly with him and Kevin Cooper in your firing line your name is already on the SSML Premier Division Trophy. The engraver may as well get to work now Tony Jacklin and Tiger Woods style as they walk up the eighteenth.

It doesn't work like that though, does it Rhodes? It's a marathon and an 11 a side game. We have a good chance, but the test will come when we play more of the stronger sides. Still, it helps to have two prolific goalscorers - hope we can hold onto them!

Horace - Stronger sides like Harefield and Edgware you mean as it's a three horse race, even if you drop twelve points to them you will still win the league by a country mile.

Can't follow that logic Rhodes. We are already at a disadvantage points wise. Which teams (that don't beat us)are going to beat Harefield and Edgware if we don't?

They will probably slip up against the Aylesbury Vale's, Leverstock Green's, London Colney's, Broxbourne's and Chalfont St Peter's of this World whereas I doubt you will. We'll wait and see anyway, you never seem to follow my logic and don't forget you ridiculed my aspirations of Kentish Town at the start of the season, look where we are now.

.. and Oxhey, don't forget them - they're capable of causing an upset at AFC Wimbledon

Another early contender for the October Rhodes Quote of the Month award.

Ryan Redford was always a good player at Hoddesdon though they did tend to hypoe him up a little in their match reports. Still twenty goals in twelve is no mean return rate.

No disrespect but he had a habit of scoring against us when we played Hoddesdon but we usually won. I'll take a repeat on October 21st

I wasn't going to include that one but will just for you, Lato. The shortlist is well into double fixtures already and it's only the 8th of the month!
