FA Vase Results

Recommended Posts

Interesting, of course where there are less pro clubs the locals will support thier local team. I guess as you say the better players from those areas will end up playing non league for the top local sides in the hope of being noticed by Ipswich/Norwich, or whoever.

I dont think its going to be any easy game, but at home, we should be favourites to win it.

Agree Gavin. Hope you have a long Vase run, as it is good for the league's profile, and it gives the rest of us a better chance to overtake you in th eleague.

We played Saffron Walden Town in the 1st Qualifying Round of the Vase last season.

Beat them 3-1 in front of a crowd of 38.

Edgware shouldn't have much problem although it is difficult to tell how much a team has improved from one season to the next.
I wouldn't hold your breath for a big traveling support though

..
Well they are the best supported team in thier divsion, better supported then any side in the SSML. They got over 500 v Hitchin in the FA cup for a midweek replay, and I dobut that Hitcin took all the support.

They should bring a few down, and hopefully boost the crowd. Then again me and my mate will have to sing extra loud lol.

Blimey, that is a long list, can you imagine if,if, if, you got through the next couple of round`s and you played South Shields? I would buy you a pint and even pay for your expenses up there Gavin, you would love it, just love it mate. (YU NEVER NA)

....
Thats very kind of you, I would really enjoy a visit up north to see Edgware, it would be a great day out.

Nothing this season, I'm afraid, but they have been a strong side in a strong league for some time - think they pay good ex's. Saturday before last they won 2-1 at Ipswich Wanderers, who had won 11-0 at home the week before in the vase!

Rhodes, not only are you proving to be arrogant, insulting and myopic, but also that you have no grasp of the basic rules of football. If you are cup-tied, you are cup tied. You don't get time off for good behaviour, you can't play in the competition again, end of. For a club secretary to show such a lack of understanding of such a basic rule is frightening.
Spidermanor - No not at all, you don't know me very well as arrogant is the last thing I am. I have obviously had no need to read up on the FA Vase rules as we're not in the competition, had we have been I would have slept with the rule book for weeks. I leave no stone unturned in my Secretarial duties and responsibilities as I learnt 'the trade' under the guidance of John Bacon at Haringey, the best Secretary out there. Anyway some competitions still allow players to play if they have played for another Club but they have to miss one round, competitions differ.

I also was a club secretary, for 10 years, and I have never heard of a knock-out competition which permits a player to appear for more than one club! You are once more making it up as you go along.

Why are Saffron Walden not in the Essex league?

You're opening a can of worms there, Gav.

They actually spent a year out of the pyramid system to join the Ridgeons League as the ESL wouldn't allow them to switch. Nearly cost them big time as it was the same year that the FA announced their first set of restructuring plans. If the Ridgeons League hadn't happened to have had vacancies the following summer, they wouldn't hyave gotten back into senior football and would probably have folded.

Another away day in the Vase for us..still its a new ground to visit.
Should be a comfortable victory too particularly if Lambourne is back, I assume he is not cup tied for the whole of the competition.

Alas the F.A Vase is not some insignificant tournament but quite a major one really. lambourne will be cup tied but even with him in the team it would be tough as Potton have been UCL Premier Division runners-up for the last two seasons having 'romped' (I'll throw in a word you might like there Rhodes) to the Divsion One title the year before that. It will be a difficult game for us and I'd take a draw and a Monday night back at the Vale

Name one.
There's just something in the back of my mind saying that that is the case although I can't be 100% sure. Because John Bacon did all of the player admin at Haringey and Kentish Town very rarely, if at all, 'import' players from other Club's there has never been a need for me to become familiar with that particular rule however if, in the unlikely event, we were to bring in a player before, for example, our Division 1 Cup game at Cranfield United in a couple of weeks then I would clearly familiarise myself with the rule.

Or in other words, you don't have a clue and are making it up as you go along in a desperate attempt to look less of a fool than you already do. I believe the word 'Muppet' applies here.

Spidermanor - Well that's a little below the belt, your associates Lato and Manorborn will both confirm that I am hugely knowledgeable about the beautiful game and the rule book, our Chairman wouldn't have made me Club Secretary if he didn't think I could do the job. I also have to do all the admin for our three teams in the Middlesex County League and three teams in the Harrow Youth League so as I say I think you are being somewhat unfair. I also recollect that you unjustly critised Phil Rolt recently so that just about says it all, Phil is a great man and the SSML wouldn't be the same without him.

Surely at any level cup tied is the same, even when I was playing Youth Football, if you moved clubs during season you couldnt play in same cup for both clubs. Have never heard of a cup where you are only cup tied for a game. Think that is the point Spider was making.

The dictionary entry for the word arrogant reads: ARROGANT
adj: arrogant 1. having or showing feelings of unwarranted importance out of overbearing pride; "an arrogant official"; "arrogant claims";

I'll let the others decide who's right on this one.
