Edgware Town 3 - Brentwood Town 1 !!!!

Edgware move in to the second round proper of the FA Vase, and make it five wins in a row. Brentwood were nowhere near as good as I thought they would be, and to be honest we won the game without really playing at our best. Three up early in the second half, Edgware took their foot of the gas a little and let Brentwood back into it with a late goal, and had another headed off the line.

 

They were down to ten men for most of the game, but still, you would expect more from a side with their record so far this season.

 

I dont think we were ever really in any trouble in the match, and the scoreline is about right.

 

Looking forward to the draw for the 2nd round.

I have a feeling we could get an easier tie then then what we had today, on paper at least.

 

Hertford and Brentwood on paper looked tough games, just goes to show that football is played on grass and not on paper lol

LOL, nah, do you know when the draw opens up to become national? no one was quite sure tonight after the game. Some said the last 32, some said it could be in the 2nd round.

 

I think its South/North at the moment, as we played Long Buckby from Northants in the previous round. The draw could pair us with a team from devon/cornwall/Suffolk/Norfolk, which would be a nice day out, if drawn away.

 

Who do you think the favourites are? FC United?

Thanks, Lato, I see your boys had a good win as well. Who knows, we could draw you in the next round. I would rather play a non SSML side, as its nice to play sides you wont normally meet.

 

So its not national till round five or six? round five must be national as its the last 16 and Edgware played Guisely in 91, in the 5th round that year.

 

So is it South/North, could you draw someone from as I said devon/cornwall?

We have the same feelings, we'd rather not play an SSML side. It would also be nice to have a home tie for a change..last one we had (apart from a replay) was in 2000.

I fancy a nice away day to devon or corwall, somewehre like Truro city, as they get good support, and we could make a weekend of it.

 

However home advantage would be good, but yeah a nice away day to somewhere you will not usually go to.

Yes Gavin, well done to Edgware, it would be great if you could draw them away and play in front of a crowd of 705 or more, hope you do not loose 8-0 though.

Gavin - Yes they did it without Tommy Lambourne too which is even more impressive. Did you take any pics of the action today, I assume you heard about our game being postponed due to the opposition being involved in a car accident on the way down to London.

Dont take offence at this but was it their first team playing (Brentwood I mwan). Just wondered if their players are still there after the news of late (one of the backers pulling out).

Thanks for the info on what round it goes national. As far as I know it was their strongest side, with Carl Griffiths playing. They did not look anything special at all.

LOL, not sure if the guy having a go is a brentwood fan or player or what? Maybe he has noting to do with Brentwood.

 

He just kept on saying that with 11 men they would have beaten us. I dont think so, they were poor, and the fact they had a player short for a lot of the game was their problem.
