Tiptree United 1 Ruislip Manor 3 aet

Maybe a bit of luck about this one. Chris Henry scored just before half time at the end of an evenish first half to give us the lead. Second half they threw everything at us after Swaysland hit the post and eventually forced an equaliser. They didn't want extra time or a replay and went for it but we hung on just about to take it to the extra period.

Extra time we scored three minutes in through Aaron Mcleish-White and that knocked the stuffing out of them. Ryan Upton added the third and we reached the Second Round Proper in the Vase for the first time since 1992-3

Was Tommy Lambourne there to watch or didn't he travel, I suppose you'll be telling us that he will be lucky to win his place back for your next match following two away cup wins without him.

I didn't see him there but he may well have been. Not at all, the reserve centre half came in today and did extremely well..infact perhaps his best game in Manor colours.

But I don't pick the team (unlike you at the Bedouins) so its the managers decision if he gets his place back immediately.

What does it matter whether he played or not? However Rhodes, seeing as you've mentioned him, have you managed to work out yet your reasoning why he should be so proud of keeping the score down to 9-0 last week? I'm still waiting to hear.

PBT, you are getting confused by great Haringey centre halfs. It was Glenn Shruety who is the one to be proud of keeping the score down to 9-0

PBT - you're getting your Tommy Lambourne's mixed up with your Glenn Shurety's ! God we're falling into the trap again - talking about players we'd never heard of until Rhodes baited his hook.

Life would be much easier if Rhodes answered such simple questions when first asked. Although it would be even easier if he kept his comments sensible in the first place.

So, Rhodes, have you managed to work out yet your reasoning why Glenn Shurety should be so proud of keeping the score down to 9-0 last week? I'm still waiting to hear.

I think I have already answered on another thread that had it not been for Glenn Hertford would have won by a far greater margin, our friends from Hertford will no doubt verify that he was probably the only one making an effort and getting stuck in particularly after the dismissal of another Haringey great Tommy Catania who I only found out saw red from the report in the local rag yesterday. Catania, along with Lambourne, was part of the legendary Haringey Youth team of 2004/2005 and another player who could and should be playing at a much higher level, he probably only stays there as his dad is Youth team Coach.

Rhodes - Glenn Shurety, as witness the half a dozen photos kindly provided by HTFCew, hardly got near the action in the entire game. I am hurt that you clearly did not read my report of the match on our website, as if you had, you would have known that Tommy Catania had been sent off (for an offence which followed one of the few actual challenges made by a Borough player on the day). These are such "giants" of the game that I had never heard of either of them prior to this game! (I'd never heard of Tommy Lambourne, either!)

Rhodes please can you stop hijacking my threads about Ruislip Manor with pointless discussions about Haringey centre halfs

Lato - Well I only initially asked whether Lambourne travelled to Tiptree but then Potters Bar Town started mentioning the 9-0 last week so it's him you should be blaming. Once again I have been victimised and it's becoming a bit upsetting. It is also hardly my fault if Horace hasn't heard of the likes of Lambourne, Catania and Shurety, I thought he was a football man but I suppose to be fair he is still new to the SSML and is possibly still in Ryman Division 2 mode.

Okay fair point Rhodes. To be honest I've only heard of said players because they are slightly unusual names and also appeared for Haringey year after year.

You miss the point of the question, Rhodes. Why would any player, particularly a defender, be proud of losing 9-0? A thumping is a thumping whether 9-0 or 14-0.

(Sorry, Lato, but Rhodes was avoiding the question on another thread.)
