Match Thread v Ramsgate

A much improved performance but still another defeat. Agree with Radders on Telemaque and Davies, very good additions and we looked a real threat up front.

At the risk of sounding like Wenger I didn't see the challenge Wallace made to get the red card, but I saw the Ramsgate bloke hit the ground and the ref was on the spot and was pretty clear he had seen what he thought was a red card offence. After that we obviously didn't look as strong and the freak own goal was a complete disaster.

Despite losing the players deserved to be clapped off at the end of the match and you could see how much this had hurt them.

Ramsgate took a throw in, it came at Jarvis who looked to leather the ball forward, miskicked it and the ball instead sliced backwards towards our goal and over the head of Drake who only managed to get a hand on it having been off his line. Crazy really.

It was a huge improvement and we looked a threat up front. Mason and Errol missed two good chances in the first half but clearly luck was not on our side today. I was hugely impressed with both the boys on debut. If we can get G fit we will have two cracking wingers in him and Terry Davies. Davies and Telemaque both had excellent debuts and it is not often you say that about a Slough signing. It was also nice to see Errol clap the fans at half time as we praised the team as the came in at the break. It was tough for the lads today and Wilko and Daly looked knackered at the end.

On the Wallace sending off I saw both players go up for the ball and one land pole axed on the floor. The ref was right on the spot and I would not be able to criticise his decision on what I've seen. Maybe Matt will be able to clear things up when he reviews the video footage.

If we can get Leon and G back fit I think we will have the makings of a very good team hopwfully it will not be too late.

Apologies to Evadne who I forgot to text today.

what hurt me big time today..was that the incident with wallace ..this had brewed because the orginal tackle between wallace and their number 11 , was not sorted out by the ref ! the number 11 clearly retaliated against wallace, after a strong tackle , but the ref failed to warn the number 11 about this , in fact should have been cautioned or even sent off..I was right by the incident on the half way line..dug out side...the number 11 clearly raised his fists to wallace... because of this wallace took revenge and he did elbow the number 11 in the face ! red card ...unfortunatly right ! but it was the inablity for the ref to have done the right thing first time round...

The incident also where the linesman had clearly seen a infringement and play continued for a few mins before he even saw the lineman and then to taoally over rule him ! what had happen if they had score in the mean time , he would have allowed the goal ! I am sure...

As for the Slough performance..we looked like a team . organised and battled well...The player s were gutted so were we , as we fully deserved something out of this game...

but much better...well done the rebels... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Gutted to hear about the result today as I could not make the match due to a prior engagement. Suprised Davies played on the wing as he played up front for Burnham against us. He used to be in the year above me at School.

Hopefully Errol can get some goals and with Harris, G, Wallace, Davies to also pick up front it looks a lot stronger now. Just hope we can get a couple of additions to the midfield now as Alexis and Wilko can't play every game in central midfield this year.

As I could not make it today I went to see Staines v's Chelmsford. Very good match - Staines look a good side and suprised they are where they are in the league. They have two very good strikers in Nwokoji and Chabban. Chelmsford are Canvey in disguise basically. If you give them time they will destroy you, but if you get into them you can get a result.

Have to say the ref was right with the red card, although I sympathise with you a bit regarding the standard of refereeing in general. We got knocked out of the FA Cup last week due to a referee who was ten times more incompetent than the one today.

As for the own goal, goals like that are scored regularly at Southwood, but usually it's the bounce that fools the keepers.

Thought you looked a very good side - certainly not bottom three material. Good luck for the rest of the season.

I could say the ref was brilliant, we outplayed you in every sector & we should have scored 5. However, I would be lying. How on earth are you in the bottom 3? IMO you deserved at least a draw. Next week you will probably be poor and win.

Good luck for the rest of the season, speaking to a fan of yours about how good you looked and he said "Yes, we play well & make a silly mistake and it all goes to pot", maybe he tempted fate?

I wasn't there today (installing a new graphics card and power supply in my PC was more important) but what a lot of away fans have said about us is generally the same thing "You're better than where you are in the league". But if we were better, surely we wouldn't be where we are or is that flawed logic?

I thought we played well today, agree with everyone on the new players. Errol Was great up front, he hardly ever stopped running, and a well taken goal. When G gets back from injury, I think he'll link up well with him.

Very disappointed with Wallace on the red card. The ref did lose the game about 5 minutes before that, letting bookable offences go, or not even seeing them. Although that is NO defence for being sent off.

A negative result, but a positive performance.

Come on Rebels.

I live in Leeds so can't go to a lot of games but I would agree with Rob that the ref was terrible last week and cost us the game against Yeading where one of our players was elbowed in the face and the Yeading player just got a yellow. The ref explained at half time that "it wasn't an elbow, just an arm!"

It does seem random how they treat incidents but if you continue to put in good performances it seems to me that results eventually follow so it sounds like the future's bright for you especially now you've brought a proven goalscorer in. Hope you enjoyed the day despite the result.
