German POWs

[Rainham Bob]

I read in one of the local freebies in the Dartford Area that one of the stands at Northfleet was built by German POWs. I couldn't find a mention in the club's history. Can anyone shed any light on it and is anything still left?

I'm off to fix bayonets in case any are still about!!!!!

I'm given to understand that the stand on the Stonebridge Rd side was acquired from The Hinge cider factory in Chalk Rd when it closed down. It was part of their loading bay apparently. The other I know not.

I was sure I caught the smell of cider wafting around there in the second half last Saturday, that would be one explanation.
