NeutralFan - I'm perfectly serious, haven't you read the Chairman's programme notes that I post on here as everything is geared to us reaching the Conference in the next eight or nine years, I'm not winding anybody up, take a look at the Division 1 table or come to watch us play.

You mean the Chairman's notes that YOU write, putting words in his mouth? How would looking at the SSML Div 1 table or watching you play SSML Div 1 football prove that you are geared to the Conference? You need more than a two-bob Nigerian Coach, a bunch of telepathic street urchins from a Camden Estate and a groundshare agreement at a ground that is going to be sold off at any minute to make it to the Conference.

Sorry must've missed those posts or just ignored them. Only time I will come and watch Kentish Town is if they play Hertford or St Mags in a cup game or maybe when you play Hoddesdon.. home or away.

Gregg is perfectly content with what I write for him infact I actually keep it fairly low key compared to if he wrote the notes himself. Ask Brimsdown what they thought of us on Saturday, over half their team were playing in the Conference last season with Dagenham and Redbridge and they had just demolished a full strength Eton Manor 8-0.

Well I can only say what I heard, surely that still makes them a cut above anything in the SSML and possibly the Ryman too, why are you trying to knock us at every opportunity, why not give credit where credit is due following a superb 2-2 draw at 'the mighty' Brimsdown Rovers. If you say you know the Brimsdown Manager you will know that he is a class act and leaves no stone unturned, he was tearing his hair out on Saturday.

I've seen KTFC play..you won't reach the conference with that side.

Incidentally a few years ago I seem to recall a lot of publicity about Haringey Borough reaching the conference in ten years. Bit of a coincidence but is that your doing as well Rhodes?

I assume you are referring to that pre season friendly when we won 3-1 at your place without breaking sweat, one possibly two of those players were in our line up on Saturday at Brimsdown. Clearly we will be adding to the squad as we rise through the pyramid, albeit not a great deal, and will no doubt have to start giving players the odd brown envelope behind the bike sheds of wherever we're playing at the time, possibly even Ashburton Grove, however that's something Gregg wants to avoid doing if possible as our players currently pay subs and are more than happy to do so. I think that says it all about them particularly Lee Scott who's brother Josh plays for Hayes yet Lee makes him look like a Sunday morning player over Hackney Marshes.

Rhodes, sorry mate but just had to put my two penneth in and you aint gonna like it.

Kentish Town have got to grow BIG to get in the conference and I dont think that will happen for a long time.

We (Canvey)worked our way through the leagues to get to Conference standard.

In 90/91 Jeff King (our benefactor) took over. His companies (Kings) sponsered us and he became manager. We were in the Essex league and drawing crowds of a hundred or so a game. It took us 14 years to get into the Conference and in all this time we had his backing.

He put a lot of money, time and devotion into the club (thousands). The crowds grew, sometimes getting a thousand a game in the Ryman premier so more cash was coming into the club but the wage bill also increased because we needed the better players.

We made the Conference and Jeff was still our benefactor - he was subsidising the club to the tune of £4,000 per week because the Canvey residents were just not interested in following the team. We were getting on average 800 per game and the gate money was not enough to keep the club afloat. Although we had many other smaller sponsers it was still not enough. The players wages were between £700 and £1000 each (even though we were only part time) and then there was the policing, rates etc etc.

Eventually Jeff had enough and pulled out. We couldnt afford to keep the team so had to let them go.

We have now dropped to Ryman One (North) but still have a club.

We were lucky to have played at that level and got so far up the Pyramid. We have lived to tell the tale.

We now have average gates of 380 and getting money back in the coffers - like a phoenix we will rise from the ashes.

We will be back, but as for when, well how long is a piece of string.......

I believe Kentish Town have no sponsers, a small crowd and from what I understand an average team.

Do you really think so much can change in that timescale (if ever)

Sorry - said you wouldnt like it <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />
