Afternoon people.

Just in case anyone hasn't seen this, I thought I'd copy and paste onto here.

Kent Messenger Group becomes GNFC’s new Media Partner

Gravesend & Northfleet FC are delighted to announce that a new sponsorship agreement sees the Kent Messenger Group join the Fleet team as Media Partner.

This deal will give the KM Group’s Gravesham titles exclusives on all things Fleet, including breaking news and a regular column written by Fleet Manager Liam Daish.

The Sponsorship agreement, which will aid the quest to target new fans from the wider area of Kent, especially Medway and Maidstone, is seen as a massive benefit to the club. All GNFC home games will be advertised in The Gravesend Messenger and local free title the Gravesend Extra. Fleet fans will also find editorial features included in all of the KM Group titles across North Kent. In addition to this, the KM Group will be running regular GNFC orientated competitions through the Gravesend Messenger.

GNFC Commercial Executive Greg Bettles commented on the deal. “I’m absolutely delighted that The Kent Messenger Group are taking the opportunity to become GNFC’s Official Media Partner. Both parties have worked hard to bring this sponsorship deal together, and I am sure this agreement will prove to be very good for all. This agreement is a massive boost to the Football Club as we look to attract more fans from right across Kent. I am positive that this deal will have huge benefits for Gravesend & Northfleet Football Club.”

Gravesend Messenger editor Denise Eaton said: "We are absolutely delighted to be so closely linked with Gravesend and Northfleet Football Club. The club has its roots firmly in the area we serve, and is a vital part of the community of Gravesham. We are hoping this deal will be the start of a long and profitable relationship with the club."

This could potentially be great news.....

But what does it say about the Kent Messenger Group, when there sitting for everybody to see at The Valley, is a bloody great advertising board suggesting that everyone can read the up todate news on Charlton Athletic in the 'GRAVESEND MESSENGER'.

Does that mean new advertising hoardings are going to appear around Stonebridge Road confirming the latest news about the 'Fleet can be seen in the South London Press???

Well done, more good news, it's time the commercial side of things at the club produced some results.

Agreed - now if we can also get them to remove the memory of the Samaritans billboard ...

Not in the best possible taste. The Samaritans supported the club for a number of years through this board & like the Marie Stopes organization were were one of the few people who actually approached the club & asked if they could pay to advertise, while the rest (The Halfway line excepted) had to be persuaded, cajoled & sweet talked into doing so.

I know of at least one former Fleet stalwart and father, who fought mental illness for many years, before sadly taking his own life. The Samaritans felt that the prevalence of suicide amongst young men was worrying enough to advertise their services at several football grounds. Please don't make a joke of it. It never was & never will be.

Well done the club, getting some positive press can only help the club instead of the crap The Gravesend Distorter print.

Agree with the well done the club bit for trying to get the KM group onboard we need as much coverage as possible, but what is all this Distorter [****!!****]?
Not only where the Reporter sponsors of the club when we couldn't find anyone else but they kindly stepped aside when Gladwin turned up. I understand that they allowed us to keep the sponsorship money that they had already paid and change the shirts to please the new sponsor.
The coverage of the Fleet in the Reporter over the last few years has been better than it has ever been and certainly far better than that in any other publication including the KM Group papers that all seem to think everyone in Kent supports Charlton.
Hopefully this new deal will see improved coverage in the KM Group but we shall have to see how that sits alongside the 'view from the valley' that currently goes straight into the recycling sack.

It's a bit of a pity that the Distorter's editorial standards have slipped so badly under the stewardship of Melody Ryall. I guess she thinks that she is a Fleet Street (or Wapping) hack in the making, and is prepared to jump on any bandwagon that imcreases her paper's profile, regardless of the entire truth.

Who can forget her Sun-like headline "It's us wot saw the Scally off", or words with that meaning?

Demeaning to her, the paper and to Fleet.

We all know it was the the Club, BK, the fans, and then the media who fought a vigourous campaign to thwart the Scally from building a stadium on our doorstep.

I will still read Chas Webster's very biased, but pleasing to the eye reports, but I have to confess I no longer buy the rag, as it is such a poor paper.

Good luck to the KM, and hope we have a long, fruitful and very biased relationship, and hope their first season with us see exclusivity on our superb, giant killing cup run to Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge AND Emirates Stadium!!!

Further to Slarti's defence of the Reporter, Ed Miller's column remains the best bit of Fleet-related journalism in the local papers. To think first and foremost of Melody Ryall when considering the Reporter's coverage of the Fleet is unfair.

That said, the Reporter's claim last week that the Dagenham game could be described as a 'promotion six-pointer' did cause me much mirth.

Unrecognized Genius - sorry for the late reply , haven't been near my pc for a time . No offence was intended to the good work carried out by the samaritans or any other well intentioned organisations ... mental health is a prevalent situation within four members of my extended family ... perhaps I should have picked another hoarding , because what I was clumsily attempting to address was the lack of billboards/empty spaces around the perimeter area that need filling , a worthwhile commercial task that could maybe lead to a future sponsor .

Sorry for any misunderstanding - none intended .
