I thought if either side deserved to win it was us.

To turn that the other way, given that Weymouth put on more attacking pressure overall in the match, and were more clinical in front of goal, it's hard to say they deserved to lose. A draw would perhaps have been fairer.

The same was of course true when Keeling was playing in that position - it's just that this is one of the first times we've been seriously caught out in this way.

One possible solution would naturally be to play Opinel at left-back and Keeling, when he returns, on the left wing in a 4-4-2.

I think you will find that the age of the side has a lot more to do with the budget than having a manager that believes in youth.

Yes , I'm well aware of the budget constraints , and the requirement for cheaper younger players that fit the bill for filling up squad places . The point I thought I had made was that we shouldn't be lacking in youngsters beating a path to our door in the hope of gaining a contract , especially if they know there's a better than average chance they might actually get to play . Likewise with the more senior players that come sniffing , hoping to get in the door by being technically better / more experienced / older / whatever - we may be regarded then as a club they should consider coming to .
PS Does anybody else think Sky don't like us because the last time they came to San Stonebridge SOMEBODY on the halfway line stood right underneath the camera position , singing "NTL , Telewest , NTL " ( Repeat ad nauseum ) very very loudly ???!

OK this is the first time I have seen the mighty Fleet in action this season, and I have to say what a breath of fresh air they are.

Like many others on here I have been critical of Daish & co. but I have stated that I would be more than happy for him to prove me wrong, and judging by the results and remarks made on this forum I suspected this was going to be the case.

Well I was very impressed with what I saw last night, the pattern of play and skill as well as the overall teamwork and fitness is a major improvement, and the management and players should be congratulated on serving up a far more attractive product than last season, which, let's face it, wasn't going to be very difficult

I honestly don't think there was a player last night you could complain about overall,

Mistakes were made of course, you expect that, but I am left with the feeling that I am missing seeing them play more than ever now,(you lucky people back home!!)

Just as a guide for me, was last nights performance par for the season or have they played better?

I can see why we have been picking up points as there is such determination and belief in our players.

I also agree about SKY's fawning coverage of anything Weymouth, and the times the bloody commentator would insist on calling us ''Gravesend & Northfleet'' really irritated (yeah OK it's our name) but is it really neccessary to keep saying it, prat!!

I am so annoyed at the patronising terms they used when mentioning us I feel a complaint to Sky coming on!!!

Why do we always seem to be treated this way by the media? it's going to take a massive effort to get any respect coming our way.

Finally just to say that Liam Daish has up to now proved me wrong ,OK only 13 games in and the difficult times of injuries and suspensions haven't arrived yet, but I have a sneaking feeling that we are better prepared for it this season than in the past, I sincerely hope so.

Anyway I'm glad I've got the opportunity to re watch the game. Coming away from the game I thought they were the better team but after watching the game (so far only the first half) and I would say we are definitely on top, Weymouth are just a hit 'em on the break team and that showed.

Interesting to see the camaras in our dressing room wondering what he was saying. Did we have a say if they could put that in there or did they even know? Bad decision in my eyes, camaras have no place in the dressing room.

Interesting to see as well what happened with De Bolla having to change his shorts before trying to come back on in the mean time they scored, but then so did we.

They were waxing lyrical about Weymouth especially the first goal they scored. Sky done their research on us, they knew Ross was player of the season last year and that this year is our first season as a fully Full Time outfit.

It's worth mentioning that Weymouths home record before last night is five wins and a draw, that draw coming against leaders Oxford who equalised in the final minute of the game.

Really enjoyed the match, starting to follow Gravesend more and more.

Can't wait until the gate get in the same league and we can play each other. Although I think that you could reach the play offs this season. Thought your manager was a mug giving us your players, shows how much I know.

Keep up the results and good luck for the rest of the season

That says it all for me. The Gods are still with them, the tide will turn, they were a competent side with no real threat up front on the night.

Some may be critical of the second goal defensively but fleet were beaten by 2 great moments in the game, and that is, excuse the pun football.

Best teams dont always win and there will be games when we play poorly and win comfortably, great.

On the night Sacha V Elam was great to watch.

Mr Elam will get some serious s**t for the smack across the face in the second half when he visits us, we are on your case!!!!!

The proverbial Elephant
