Tonight's Replay

We gave it ago tonight, players gave 100%, but ultimately we're not good enough.

Yes, the ref was dire (cost us the 2nd goal) but it shouldn't paper over the fact that our downfall was yet again our inability to put the ball in the back of the net. Has anybody spotted a pattern emerging here?

Finally, thanks to TC for his financial assistance with the coach tonight.

...failed to convert our chances, conceded two goals from poor refereeing decisions.

…………………………………………………………………..

The ref didn't win or lose us the game, Hayes took their chances and we didn't...result 2-1 Hayes.

But I do feel the ref had an influence on the result, both conceded goals came from refereeing errors, for the first he was mugged by the Hayes right back and gave him a free kick for a verbal Tarzan impression, and the second was a clear foul, which we stopped for, Hayes didn't, and the goal stood, fair play to Hayes you have to play to the whistle. No consolation I know, but the Hayes bench commented on how they would have reacted if the roles were reversed on that second goal.

Well done Hayes...good luck in the next round.

Oh and if any of you want to know why the ref had a word with the Hayes bench and pointed to their supporters.

It was ...you’ll love this...he said that the Hayes supporters were chanting racial abuse...which just about sums him up. Not only could he not see to well, he obviously had a hearing disorder as well.

Every one in the ground (except for the ref) could hear the Hayes fans ribbing Lee ...you fat [****!!****]….or perhaps his eye sight is worse that I first thought. Surely he didn't think Lee was Afro Caribean?

Not a bad Crowd...193

193????????

Yeah rite...well one of their supporters said they needed the money... Perhaps the ref had a bonus for being inept . And there is inept and then plain favouring the home side. The example that I still see in my, minds eye is Lee Hodges running into the penalty area, getting in front of his man and being blatently pulled back...only for the ref to blow up and give a free kick the other way!!! And that is one example, I'm sure people could furnish this forum with countless others (including their 2nd goal).

But as TC has said, we could've put this one to bed had we taken our chances and really only have ourelves to blame.

The Ref was worse than he was at our place and the Linesman were no help to him either. But lets look at the positives! In the end I think we played quite well on the night and I thought Matty Game had a much improved night and our young keeper was very good again. The boys battled hard and the support as usual was first class. A big THANKYOU to our chairman as well for his financial gesture as regards the coach, how many other clubs can say this? All in all its a pleasure to be part of Billericay Town as always!

for me what summed the ref up was how he booked one of their players in the first half for kicking the ball away and yet when the same thing happens in the 2nd half he only gave the player a talking to.

Had the chance gone in when their keeper made a point blank save in the first half and nathans shot had gone in rather than hit the bar, then things could have be so much different. If's and but's....

Hayes looked like the know how to win ugly which is something we never do. Im not saying i want to see unattractive football each week but then I guess we go back to the results over performance issue.

Firstly cheers to TC for the bus last night, appreciated.

At the end of the day we only have ourselves to blame, as we just cannot (presently) fulfil our chances that we are getting. However the lads did not stop trying and kept on pushing right to the end, so credit to 'em...Please, please lads just put the ball in the net. They know we are 100% behind 'em too.

Interesting coach journey last night though..Nothing went wrong!! hahaha Have to say the mood on the way back was incredibly upbeat, and cannot remember laughing on a return journey as much as that for a long time. Great company, and great joking around by all and sundry, which certainly helped get over our loss. Cheers chaps!

It was a good gesture by TC. Our Board also paid for a coach to one of our away games this season.

You need luck in the FA cup and it does seem that you were unlucky on this occassion.

Gazza etc on a positive note you can now concentrate on the league
