Eddie quits

I personally think Eddie is a good manager, but had both hands tied behind his back. Was also a good bloke always willing to chat after a game, and did give us our best ever cup result against Walsall.

I think we are in limbo until the May local elections, if Labour don't get in, i reckon Deaner will pull the plug and we will have to get more investors in, unless one of the supporters wins the lottery. Just surviving relegation this season will be a miracle.

hearing a bit more...Eddie has been promoted in his work and His wife is to return to full time studying and he will not be able devote all the time that is needed to Slough, so with reluctance he has to move on....

Well done Eddie....good luck for your future..

thanks for everything....and remember you will be most welcome to come and see us any time....

So who is it who gets to appoint the new manager then?

Chairman Bernard who is MIA, Secretary/Director: Roy or Sponsor: Martyn Deaner who suddenly turned up last week. Will it be left to default appointment a bit like Eddie's who was acting manager for ever.

I think Roy will have a better idea and has contacts...so lets see....

but west I am sure will be caretaker...but not the manager...but who knows...

Well I think its a real shame that Eddie has gone. He has provided stability and held things together, with very little in the way of resources, starting each season with very little in the way of a squad. Despite all of this he has done a reasonably good job most of the time.

So thank you Eddie for you committment to the Rebels and all the best for the future.

now its confirmed must say thanks as well for all the hard work.

eddie is the only manager i have known as a slough regular, the highs of the last 2 or 3 seasons ive seen were amazing, and it was good to see him stick with it through the lows, but if there are outside reasons for leaving then fair play.

Sad to Eddie go decent manager, just makes you think what a job he could have done if we had given him money to spend. This is realy bad news who is gonna want to take on the managers job we are at the foot of the table, have no money a squad that is piss poor and look set for a really rough ride this year.

Lets just hope that an experienced manger is appointed we dont have time for a rookie if we wanna stay in this league.

What next?

Well now it's confirmed, I'd also like to thank Eddie for all his hard work and wish him well. He's stuck by our club through thin and thinner as player and manager and I think we owe him for his loyalty. I for one will always remember Walsall (and Yeading!) and the Bryco Cup win, our first piece of silverware in many a year.

With that said, maybe the time is right for big changes in both management and playing staff. I would like to see someone with lots of experience come in to try and save our season. I don't think any of the 'obvious choices' from within such as Mark West, Steve Daly or Wilko are what we need at this stage, however well they've done on the playing side. We need to start afresh and get someone new in, with a fresh approach and hopefully the ability to coax a few quality players along.

Yep, thanks Eddie. I think this all needs to be put in perspective. He came along when Browne left us and we hardly had any players left. Then:

- Built a promotion winning side in his first season

- Won the Bryco Cup (Our first Trophy in 'x' amount of years

- Got us to the 2nd Qualifying round of the FA Cup

- Last 16 of the Trophy

- Beat Walsall

- Has started from stratch nearly every season with a small budget.

I personally feel, if we had the finances to keep the players from the promotion winning side and were able to mix those players in with a few from the next few seasons i.e Saulsbury, G, Alexis, Matt Murphy etc, we'd be riding high in the Conference South (if not higher) now.

I will never forget the FA Cup run (ie the Saulsbury game when Wilko scored). Walsall and the Bryco Cup win. Those memories will stay with me for life.

Cheers Eddie - thanks for the great memories.

Would agree with all that was said really. Eddie is a top bloke and has had some remarkable successes given the circumstances he has had to work under. All the best for the future.
