I think the problem is that the novelty of a fans owned club is fading a bit.

Its not that.We had our biggest average gates last season.The novelty of being at step 4 might have faded a bit.But we have lost 50 fans a game through poor displays and we will easily win them back (and hopefully more) with improved performances.The extra pound on the entrance free doesn't help.50p extra would have been preferable.

 

The generally large prices hikes in non-league over the past 5 years is worrying and well above inflation.It has also caused a drop in attendences,especially at the lower levels.

 

It didn't help this year.Having our two potentially biggest attended games,so early in the season, when a lot of people where still on holiday.

It was a low attendance v Bury Town but I must admit I missed the game as I was amongst the 6602 at the Kassam Stadium.

 

I will be at Goldsdown Road on Saturday but I think it will be another low attendance in the Trophy. I think we all need to do our bit to increase the awareness of the club. If every Towner put an ETFC car sticker in their car or put a couple of posters in their local shops we would soon see more new faces arriving at Brimmo.

 

This season’s average Town attendance is 355 so far - at the same stage of last season it was 332. I reckon we'll be looking at an average 375 by the end of the season but we all have to do our bit.

There will need to be a significant increase in future attendances if ETFC is to hit an average of 375 considering that we probably have had what would have been considered to have been our best three attendances prior to the start of the season.

It's not just about putting stickers in cars and posters in windows, although they are both excellent ideas. A more strategic approach is needed to selling the club and attracting new people/supporters.

Just had a look at last season's programme and I hadn't fully appreciated how low Saturday's attendance actually was. Last season only the home match against Uxbridge was lower and that was a cold February night.

 

The visitor average attendances will be higher than last season so that will help. Let's hope for a good run in the FA Trophy to increase our profile in Enfield.

thres no doubt that not going up to the premier has affected crowds. a few wins though and we should be getting back there..

It is a difficult issue. Why attendances have gone down and I have tried to gain some relief by comparing our attendances with other clubs. Hornchurch got 509 against Bury Town so we cant say it is lack of travelling support for Bury.

 

What people are forgetting is that it was FA cup day on Saturday and perhaps Boreham Wood v Hornchurch may have been a more attractive fixture for followers of Non league in the local area. (though there were only 311 there!)

 

Perhaps Hendon v Lewes took some people. (210 attended)

 

Let us look further afield. Hemel v Harrow (265 attended)

 

So crowds generally suffered a decline on Saturday. Did the weather have anything to do with it. It was a blustery day with heavy showers forecast. There is not very much cover at Goldsdown Road so perhaps people just decided to give it a miss.

 

Doesn't explain the low gates at Hemal and Boreham Wood however where there is plenty of cover. Hendon is a bit open.

Agreed. It really is about time we re-opened the debate regarding some cover at the open end of the ground. I know it will cost money but it will enable the more vocal fans to get right behind the lads during both halves and generally improve the ground too.

Yes.This must be a priority. I noticed that for the first time on Saturday,even the singers behind the goal couldn't be bothered to stand down the open end,and remained behind the covered goal all game.

 

How about setting a 'supporters stand fund'?

 

How much would a basic stand cost? Would it need to be a big as the one at the other end or half the size? Would a portable stand like the ones we have at the moment be the cheapest option,or would a 'homemade type' stand be cheaper?

 

I think it would be a good idea to know the exact amount we will need to raise,before a fund is set up.It would give people more insentive to reach a set target.

If by "Kids Dept" you mean "JETS" that always starts out quite low until members re-join, plus we have had a few who are too old now & plus several players have left & their kids go with them. Off the top of my head there are about 15 of them.

I think we still have said plans & some of the materials, but I think it would need planning, but I am not sure as it may be classed as a temporary structure.

In the long run.A new stand could pay for itself.With improved atmosphere and comfort,people are more likely to come through the turnstiles.

Isn't it a shame that the planning application submitted for the extra 100 seats did not include provision for a covered terracing area behind the railway end goal to protect the club's most valuable asset on matchdays.

Is the JETS membership count lower than previous years due to the change in season ticket policy this year?

 

I know my three JETS all have season tickets (as I bought them!) - not sure if Gilli got the JETS forms though as I sent those to the club membership secretary .....

 

I think our crowds will pick up if we put a good run together and keep scoring goals.

 

Families are a good way to bump up the numbers. I have several friends with children who keep talking about coming to the next Saturday home game. But as Steph pointed out earlier, they often change their minds if the weather is poor, or if school activities on a Saturday morning (football, rugby) over-run.
