Reporter - Opportunity Missed

Are we really playing Weymouth on Wednesday night & is it really on Sky?? The Reporter makes no mention of the game at all, so those who were unaware of the match & the TV Coverage previously are still unaware. Had it been noted in the Reporter there might have been a few more people attracted to watching the game and (good performance allowing)coming to Stonebridge Road subsequently.

I think a medium sized whoosh is called for there.

Meantime , we can all do our bit ... pop into your local pub ( one that shows sky footy , obviously )and let the b*ggers know - get them to put it on their chalkboards on pavements , in prominent positions , etc - tell them now , promise lots of customers coming to view their home town team on prime time sky sports ... if your pub does participate , let everybody know on this forum ... plus , the club can tap them up afterwards for advertising , sponsorship , etc ...the pub can ask it's viewing audience to select their favourite fleet players , and sponsor players accordingly ? Just a thought , Mr Commercial Manager

I remember a couple of seasons back when we have a couple of full time posts that dealt with this type of commercial thing. We had bigger (slighly) crowd and not as goo a eam - if i am allowed to say so.

We need the same position to be made available within the club somehow and some bright young spark to come along and get our average gate nearer 2000 than 1000.

Easy to type it here i appreciate - but this must be main priority - get the crowd in while we are playing well they will surely come back for more!!

Yeh, I said on the official forum a couple of months back that we should get an e-mail surge going, so fixtures can get round to the whole of Gravesend (whether it will work, not sure!).

exactly - we are bereft of ideas off the pitch as we were on the pitch last year.

We all bemoan the youngsters outside the ground breaking into cars, yet we can't entice them in. If they were inside the ground your cars would be safe.

The club appear to me to not want teenagers in the ground , if we continue with this policy we will continue to be NLL.

We have missed out on 4 glorious years to build our fan base, how many more will it need.

How do they appear that?

Not sure if this is true or not. However, if the club was to attract more teenagers into the ground (free tickets etc.) there might be an extra costing in terms of policing/stewards etc as a result of the "potential" trouble that might result from "gangs of youths". I use these words loosely.

Interesting, Whitebucket's column in the local Reporter a couple of weeks ago (yes I'm 1 of your avid readers!) reflected on the disinterest from the local populous and how he couldn't wait until Prescott "tarmacked" the Thames Gateway to bring in a new generation of Fleet supporters.

Perhaps the Club are waiting for this scenario, together with the advent of a new stadium to attract new supporters? Certainly the performances of the team deserves better local support.

Just spoke to the Distorter - no sports reporters in at the momment but I did labour the point that when we get a plum tie in the FA Cup , shown live on BBC the Distorter will be swarming all over the show getting publicity for "their" club.

They took my name and number and promised to call back.

I shan't hold my breath.

How do they appear that?

cough ' no student concessions ' cough

cough ' Adult prices starting at 16 not 18 ' cough

cough ' the little PR we do do is all aimed at pre teen kids' cough

cough ' answer from the then chairmen to a direct question about targeting / marketing aimed at teenagers went a long the lines of " Having a large number of unaccompanied teenagers in the ground may present us with problems" cough

Indeed it might present us with a few problems. The queues to get food may be longer, and perhaps the stewards might have to work a bit harder. But in my mind we are missing out on potential long term fans.

It will be interesting to know how many of the under 11's that came last year on freebies , have come back again. I would hazard a guess that it is not many.

Up the Fleet . And lets get 3 points today
