Ramsgate 3-1 Margate

The post itself was banter. Is it that hard to understand? Can you not be unbiased for a while? Youve never said a good word about Margate and only slap them down with poorly made jokes, unable to understand that Ramsgate arent as good as you think. Theres being a fan of a club and theres being an a-hole about it.

Who were the teams? Anyone have a list? I heard a few names but not much more.

"Your 'keeper sure was a good shot stopper. Looked like the best player wearing Amber"

The joke is that if Mitten (who I think was the goalie) was the best player and he conceded three goals, the rest of the team was even worse. I cant believe Im having to explain your own comments. Its another dig at Margate.

Am sure our man at the match will put things into perspective from that game later tonight Rob. Dont get carried away now. From what I heard you had 5 first teamers out there compared to our 1. Wisker dosent count.Judging by reports he seems to think he's somebody now having been given a couple of games in the first team.Had a bit of trouble from him tonight I hear.

Anyway,as for the under 18s,the game I decided to watch rather than see Rob again. Twice in a week would be too much to bear l.o.l.

Anyway back to the under 18s, Margate did well first half against a very good outfit.Tall, strong & with a fair amount of skill.Gate went in half-time one up thanks to E.Grinsteads keeper.A high free kick from the touch line at the halfway line,no-one around & the keeper lets it go through his hands.A bizarre goal.Gate played well that first half though & practically called the shots.

Second half E.Grinstead turned the screw. Practically ran the second half & scored 3 goals, all well deserved apart from the first,a penalty that seemed to bounce up & hit an arm.Their second was a screamer from outside the box.A very good side, fit, well built, strong & talented. Am sure a couple were older than they are.Well it certainly looked like it.Still its out of the Cup for the Gate in this one. Credit the boys for putting up a good show.Could have cut the deficit second half on a couple of occasions but snatched at their shots too many times.

Blueblood had his coffee cup knocked out of his hand by a wayward shot at half-time by those kicking around.Got scalded I believe.Hope you are alright BB.I ducked luckily & didnt get the same.

Someone said, wittingly,"Well,it is a cup game". Sorry Graham but just couldnt stop myself from laughing at that one. Again, hope your arms are alright.

Att.A very respectable 96 paying customers.Better than Leyton have I believe & possibly better than at Ramsgate tonight too.

Am sure James,as others are,are glad to know that you got there in the end Rob.Could have said that first time round. Thanks for telling us that we at least still have a secure & safe back up keeper to go with the awesome talent of Scott Chalmers Stevens. As for the others out there it does seem that your first teamers really did outclass our players.Still in a reserve match they are probably entitled too I suppose.

Wenger,am sure MM will enlighten us more as to the players out there tonight,a bit later as he actually attended the game, but from what he told me the only players he could recognise from the first team were Donovan at the back plus Wisker.Thats it! No mention of Mitten in goal but I am sure he must have been playing seeing as though he has been given some praise by a Ramsgate fan. As far as I am aware no other first teamers were out there. I stand to be corrected on that one though as I wasnt there but am only going by what I was told by Michael.

Stayed an extra night in Kent, and as the reserves are arguably fringe first team players, i thought i'd have a look in :

Brief report on last nights game :

Apologies but can't give a team list although got most of the first names :

Now whilst i'm getting older, it did seem a very youthful MFC team out there-with exception of Captain Donovan, most looked 17-19 years old.

Certainly, when teams ran out, MFC were alot younger and physically smaller than Ramsgate.

I think Ramsgate did have 4-5 first teamers out.I do not know there players, but Cory,Munday and takolloo were playing, plus a right back who had an enormous throw -in so he might have been a first teamer aswell.

Ironicaly, there were many similar minor injuries to both sides in second half when about 3 players each side limped off with ankle/lower leg injuries.

On the match itself, score 3-1 as we know.

MFC did ok and were not overawed. When it counted Ramsgate had the strength to finish ,and were just the better side though in many patches MFC matched them in midfield, and certainly played decent football in what was quite a good a free flowing game.

MFC struggled in the air at the back though.Donovan was rather oddly on the left of the defence in a back 3 for most of the game and we lost nearly every header in the centre.I think all 3 goals were either direct or indirect result of headers.Excepting Donovan, the defence was very young and could not cope with likes of Takoloo.I got the impression a couple were even making their debuts.

Ernie the keeper did make some excellent saves, but is not the tallest and was a bit weak on crosses. scoring went as follows:

1-0 Ramsgate 30 mins.Rebound knocked in after header saved.

2-0 35 mins.

Ramsgate hit bar from header.

2-1 45 mins-a god run from Wisker -slotted pass to i think our no 9-Kenny-shot saved but nodded in the rebound.

3-1 55 mins.Munday near post header-poor marking.

Rest of game was even and lots of substitutions as injuries abounded.

Wisker was booked in first half and got involved in a tussle mid way through second half so was substiututed to prevent him being sent off.

It looked as though DW was respomnding to comments that he was a bit lightweight as he certainly put himself about a bit last night. After a very average first 20 mins, Wisker did have good 20 min spells either side of half time when he ran the game in midfield.

Donovan struggled a bit, but in fairness, i think he had to act as nursemaid/captain and had to concentrate on helping and encouraging others as opposed to his own game.

I guess the reason for going was to see if anyone shone as future first team stars:

Have to say -probably not for a few months:

Again Wisker did well in a purple patch.

No 10.Nick Bagley looked a handful with a bit of class on occasions, but did not link that well with our main striker.

Whilst only on for the last 20 minutes-no .16 a defender looked confident.

You could not fault the effort ,energy and skill from anyone and some nice football was played-we just got beaten by a bigger and more experienced side but held our own most of the time with a 5/6 man midfield.

It was a bit like the first team, with no real impact up front or goal threat, where 'Kenny' has pace and skill but was isolated .
