When i first come to watch slough one of the things that made me want to come back was the level of singing on the terraces and the love every1 showed for the club.

This season i cannot hear or see that, i know im not one to be saying this as i hardly sing but there was one song last nite in the entire game whereas carshalton were lively and singing and i think that we need to recapture the singing and get behind the lads 100%. It could be the difference between us staying up this year.

No, this is not the case because if it was Newcastle and Portsmouth would be first and second in the Premiership, while Manchester United would be in the Conference North. The only difference between us staying up or going down is the quality of players we have (which is, frankly crap) and money (which we have none of).

Think the point he is trying to make is that although singing alone won't win you the league, it is far more likely to improve the teams performances than constantly abusing them.

Yes, we are a poor team, but hurling abuse at them is hardly going to make everything better.

Mark is right - a few seasons back we had a good squad (on an undoubtedly bigger budget), and in that 'promotion' season, we were obviously winning more often than not, crowds were OK and we'd be taking 100-150 away from home and often outnumbering the home support. Then we had the FA Cup and Trophy runs which were magnificent.

Now, the atmosphere is dramatically different around the ground - very negative at times, and it's a combination of depression at being homeless still, and of what we've seen on the pitch.

I do think that creating some kind of atmosphere helps the players (after all, Eddie Denton always asks for it on the first page of every programme) and I hope we can do this at Farnborough. It's a welcome break from league action and it would be nice to see 100+ of us going there. We took 150+ to Cobham and the atmosphere was good for parts of the first half, so I think it can be done.

yes its total coincidence that when we did well and went up 2 seasons ago the fat boy got everyone singing every game and the team got promoted.

Last 2 games ......feck all singing and 2 defeats.

Basically that's it mate, the likes of me and you haven't helped the club keep going by turning up week on week for years and ploughing in our cash (The Barmy Army have been putting in £5 a week extra each for YEARS) but we are killing it because we no longer sing the teams praises to the invisible rafters regardless of the level of performance.

Why is it that the people who criticise the atmosphere the loudest on here (and you know who you are) are never stood behind the goal on a match day conducting the choir. I've said it before - I don't come to games be a choirmaster - I come to the game in the vain hope of being entertained by the football and the banter. But if someone wants to start a song I will always join in and give it a go. So before criticising others anon why don't you join us behind the goal and start some fecking songs. I've got a song sheet somewhere.

Well said Martin, I try to start chants, but as we have been behind for 99% of the time this season there seems little point as the astmosphere it not condusive to happy clappy chanting....

And agree with Mart, there are about 10-12 of us that regularly chant...

So put up anon or shut up.
