So hello and goodbye......

Another international signing, I see. Cypriot U 21 International Alexis 'Alexis' Nicholas, signed from Brighton & Hove Albion. Former Chelsea schoolboy, too. My sources tell me that he is a tough-tackling, short passing midfielder, quite liked by my mate who is a season-ticket holder at wherever the Seagulls play. He couldn't tell me whther he plays at the front or back of a diamond 4 midfield but Colin and Nick will sort t'lad out, no doubt.

Welcome to him from me.

And farewell to Adam Wilde, Josh Sozzo and Kurt Husnu, I see. too.

Good luck to those three from me. Especially the former Shrimper - that's some pedigree. I felt that Josh just didn't quite get the run that he needed and then, no doubt, he didn't enjoy sitting behind Paul 'Hakkers' Hakim, Lee 'Clarkey' Clarke and Simon 'Simon' Martin.

Yes, that was the impression that I obtained.

As another thought, I was wondering whether Colin could be encouraged to sign players who have the same surnames as some of the City Faithful: Jones. White. Tavener. Thorns. Rogers. Christmas. Farmer. Bangs, say.

There might be more of a market for "Authentic Conference Nationale Home & Away shirts, choice of long or short sleeves, Named and numbered, worn once". And if so, perhaps new signings could be persuaded to keep the tags on the shirt through their first game. I gather that higher prices are paid if the item can be described as "New With Tags" (NWT).

I would think that the demand for "Husnu, No 26" would be fairly limited. There's a bit of a cachet as he's an ex-Shrimper, mind.

Talking of marketing initiatives, I forgot to ask that Chairman of the Supporters Club chap how much had been received as a result of the efforts of the entrepreneur from 'Pak Street'. I'll speak to him at the week-end.

Eh? I wouldn't want to compare him with Wor Chris, Hatboy, But Damian "Damo" "Batty" Batt has looked a great signing at right back to me.

Alexis "Jack" Nicholas will have his work cut out to displace Seebs.

I expect it's something to do with rotavation or whatever it's called.

We don't play 5 at the back, Hatboy.

Sometimes, when he fancies a bit of a change, or to wind me up, Colin has a go with wing-backs, but not 5 at the back. [The last person able to play wing-back in the yeller & blue was Mark Rooney.]

Damo is fine in a flat back four. Trust me on this. The boy is kwality.

Help. I think I'm struggling to keep up here. So since the transfer window closed we have signed five (?) players (Okuonghae, Jackman, Batt, Husnu, Nicolas) and let four go (Lewis, Husnu, Wilde, Sozzo). Sure I have missed some here as well. Can't be doing a lot for the squad or team performances when the first time they meet is on the pitch at 3pm on Saturday!

Highly-tuned professional athletes, Mws.

And they get to the ground at about ten to three. A bit of gel in the hair and out to the roar at the Fortress. Well Damo takes a little longer with his hair, but you get the general idea.

So long as the others know what to call 'em - Magners, Jacko, Damo/Batty, Hus, Jack - they're fine. It's a football thing.

Well spotted, Rob! I had half the same thought but didn't air it. Perhaps Alexis 'Jack' Nicholas will take the lucky No 25 shirt.

I don't know about the rules and fines, though. You might look up the fine incurred when Lee 'Clarkey' Clarke wore Dean 'Christmas' Cracknell's shirt for 10 minutes or so the other week.

Perhaps Lee thought that he was about to be yellow-carded!
