Harrow 5-2 Billericay

Simon BTFC

Recommended Posts

Team news: Same as Saturday except Collins and Holland in for Hodges and Burbridge.

Took the lead, first 1st half goal this season - Blewitt heading in a Collins corner. Harrow equalised when a mistake allowed them on the attack, Swaine had to make the challenge, conceded a free kick that was delivered well, they've scored with a decent finish. They took the lead when we lost possession close to the area and another well struck shot.

Billy off on a stretcher, went straight down after taking a kick, off to hospital in an ambulance at 1/2 time.

3rd goal on stroke of half time, another silly free kick, took major defelction off Blewitt - Wright no chance.

2nd half battled well to get back to 3-2 (Hodges pen), but 2 counter attack goals when we were pushing forward leaving Wright exposed.

I thought Holland did well on his debut, looked mobile and worked himself a couple of decent half chances.

McMahon

Heffer Swaine Blewitt Kerrigan

Game Hunter Dormer Collins

Elder Holland

Subs

Wright for McMahon

Hodges for Collins

Flack for Holland

SNU: Burbridge, Lee-Finch

where do you start!

We couldnt defend last night. The decision to play Heff's at right back clearly didnt work. Surely Gamo would have been a better bet. We look more solid with Heff's and Blewit at centre half.

We were not as bad as the score suggests, but what was proven last night as that even a very ordinary team like Harrow can punish you if you give them chances and cannot clear your line properly. Their number 11 looked lively all night.

It looked to me like we kept loosing possession too easily and quickly but when we did go forward we looked good at times.

When we were 3-2 down you really felt that it was only ever going to be us that scored the next goal.

Very very dissapointing result, but the performance was not that bad.

I agree Paul...The scoreline I thought flattered them and the last two goals were really from us pushing up to even up the score.

Gazza it was actually a good spot by the ref, the lino kept his flag down and did nothing. although when the penalty was first taken and scored he waved his flag to indicate the goalkeeper had moved off his line. The referee then orders a retake, giving the keeper another chance to save it after comitting the offence. The officiating last night was shocking. Their 4th goal may or may not have been offside, but if a referee awards a free kick for offside, surely he has to stick to it?

It had no bearing on the outcome of the match, but ive seen better officials on a sunday morning.

It often happens that a lino will see an infringement, and after consultation a goal will not be given. But I have never seen a ref rule out a goal, give the free kick, then consult his linesman and give a Goal...quiet bizarre.
...and as for allowing a keeper a second chance to save a pen after it was deemed he was off his line... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Nevertheless 5-2 is quiet a beating, and yes individual mistakes were made, but I think the team as a whole should shoulder responsibility, it was a bad night at the office, We win together, we loose together.

A big game for us on Saturday, so we need to leave this loss behind, re- adjust, look forward, and go into Saturday’s game with a positive frame of mind.

I will post news on Billy's injury as soon as I know more.

Yep, that is one game I want to move on from...

Now, how about a round of applause for the navigators of those cars that got us all there... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />
