SLOUGH v Carshalton Ath.

Recommended Posts

We lost 2-0, both goals in the first half, we hit the bar and had a goal disallowed for offside.

Undoubtably the night was ruined by the worst officials that i personally have EVER EVER seen...every time we went forward it seemed to be offside (we could see from behind the goal that some of them werent), and carshalton were awarded a penalty where not even one of the players appealed, and we should have had a penalty ourselves for handball.

I cannot fault the players tonight it is so hard to play when there are officials like that, so hard to get the confidence they so desperately need when every decision seems to go against them. we started brightly hitting the bar, but as soon as that extremely dodgy penalty was given and scored everything went wrong, the players couldnt do anything right in the eyes of the officials. we could have scored several times if it wasnt for the wrong decisions by the linesman, we were in round the back of the defense a lot. we definately did NOT deserve to lose.

unlucky rebels, lets see if we can play like that on saturday, maybe with a better set of officials we can cause a shock.

up the rebels!

Truth was we were poor.

But we didn';t deserve to lose this one.

What seperated the two teams was the 3 worst officials I have ever seen.

We had Leigh Mason hitting the crossbar, one goalbound shot saved by the arm of a defender (no penalty given) and a goal ruled out for offside.

Apart from the penalty (anyone know what that was for?) and the goal just before half-time, we restricted them in terms of clear-cut chances.

Yes we didn't create alot ourselves, but we didn't deserve to lose really.

Tonight was possibly the worst display of match officiating I have ever seen.

1) Do the linesman not know how to position themselves alongside the pitch?

2) Do they know what the offside rule is?

3) Do they know what penalties are supposed to be given for?

Yes we were hardly stunning, but we started brightly and this was a match we deserved at least a draw out of. We just dont seem to be having any luck go our way whether it just be the bounce of the ball or the officiating.

In terms of the performance, yes we need a target man but I think our midfield is dire.

We never seem to push up and as such leave a huge gap between them and the forwards. This also means our defence is constantly kept under pressure, its easy for any team we play to keep us in our own half. Then all we are left with is the hoof the ball up the field before it comes straight back again.

Also, please look for the man in space! So many times we have a man spare waiting for the ball but we decide to always play ourselves short and lose the ball.

Hard to say if we should have got anything from this game as the "officials" screwed the game up and turned it into a farce.

Could tell the oficials didnt have a clue when the linos ran the line from the wrong side (those who saw it know what I mean)

Our passing was poor from all areas, Drake was lucky to get away with a major mistake comming out, Wilko strugled as he had to run all over the pitch - why was he not subbed his legs have had how many games already this season?

The forwards did there usual trick of taking too long to shot and allowing the defence/keeper to get back in position.

Crosses in always went where there was no slough player, an attaking throw in was thrown straight out.

Jarvis was missing due to "injury" - think his fists were hurt?!?!

No subs used and half of them were not fit in the first place.

Overall it could have been a much worse score line

At least we are still in the cups - at the momment!

Right then so we have 4 points from 9 games.

If we are to get anything out of this season changes are needed now.

Yes we were unluckly last night as the officials seem to comlete idiots who cost us the game but we should still have tried harder to get something out of the game.

We cannot just hope that the team will come good its beyond that now we need 2 strikers and a midfielder. Wilko always gives 110% but im sure he is struggling but he is the only one who looks determined.

You gotta feel sorry for G as well he always tries hard but no one supports him when he comes forward.

What is the point of playing long balls up to the strikers who are to weak to stand up to defenders i cant see anacalet scoring more than 10 goals and im being generous.

He just doesnt look good enough.

Harris we havent seen enough of yet to judge.

In all fairness we have one striker and that is Wallace but he is injured. I know that we dont have the money to attract the kind of players we would like to see but out of the squad we have i would say there are only 8 players that are any good enough most of them being defenders.

Bring back Matt Miller,Metcalfe Ryan spencer and Seedel they could actually perform at this level.

Miller was never given the chance along with seedel and Metcalfe and Spencer can also do a job at this level.

Eddie needs to do something now get rid of the crap we have at the minute and get in players to do a job we are on a slipperly slope.

Frustrating all round !

Shows when your down the bottom of a league ..nothing goes your way ..the players get it a go...and thats what we need ...it showed by the players getting a great boost from the crowd tonight ...(thats great we were all together on that one last night) hope it goes on...

Now to agree with most said on here ..2 front men and a midfield player needed to strenthen the team.. and this needs to be acted on now...

Maybe those who pledged money need to come and see me saturday ! we need people to pledge the money weekly and maybe we can help get a hit man upfront...I know its going to be heard...but just maybe we can dig ourselves out...

as for those who desert the club at its most time of need.... comments fail me....

Rats and ships come to mind.... but we still have the lifeboats....

Following on from Russ's point the stats are:

Played at home 5 games

Wins 0

Draws 1 (AFC)

Lost 4

Points 1

Away is not much better 4 games

Wins 1 (Harrow)

Draws 0

Lost 4

Points 3

This must be as bad as Windsor last season and we know what happened to them!

We are now 20th and a mid table finish is now starting to look unlikely.

Before pople say that we have played the top teams - yes we have, and they are top because we GAVE them 3 easy points!!!!

How do we get out of this position - well there are some very obvious solutions and these have been pointed out repeatedly by people other than me, but does anyone at the club have the balls to make these vital changes?

Not sure if the next couple of games will be representative of where we are going as they are both cup games and generally we perform better in these - I hope.

I'll leave the obvious to last...

I thought we played better last night, lots of commitment against 14 men.

However, we have got to stop smashing the ball forward blindly, if we are going to keep with Ani up front. He is not that type of player, and at the moment can not cope with strong tall defenders.

In this game and the last, Dell stayed back to defend. In previous games, we have been at our strongest when he is venturing forward down the wing.

Completely agree, the WORST officials ever seen, and no doubt they will also report us for abusing them.

We should send in footage to the Referees Association as proof on how inept they were.

Now for Farnborough, After this game being overshadowed by certain men in black, the players will no doubt be pumped up for their next opponents.

If we have another good performance, like those against Harrow and AFC, with Dell and Woody (hopefully) as wing backs again... we might managed to get a shock against a team that are leaking goals at the moment. With a kick-start to the rest of the season.

Odder things have happened...

It was only a few hours ago that Handball in the box was deemed not to be an offense; a player behind the ball being deemed to be offside

See you all on Saturday

After watching the video footage over again last night and this morning the shot from harris where the defender save it with his hand should of been a penalty 100% and i dont know why the linesmen didnt see it he had a clear view from where he was satnding no bodies in the way. And then the dissallowed goal was a very tight call but i think he was just onside as G was ahead of ana when played the ball.

It comes down to strength in depth, simple as.

If we have everybody FIT in the squad at the same time our first choice starting X1 will give most teams in this league a game. Sadly though as we all know in football that never happens.

We tried and worked hard tonight, which was pleasing compared to Saturday, but you can run all day and there end product as well. Still think Carshalton deserved the win, despite a helping hand from the ref & assistant.

No offence to the subs, but you only have to look at the bench to see how much we are struggling.

One of the people I feel most sorry for is Wilko. Wilko’s been awesome for us through the years. He was going to retire two-seasons ago, but is basically first choice now when I bet he thought he would be a ‘bit-part’ player this year. With the injuries he’s had he can’t play two games in a week anymore.

The good news for Saturday is that Wallace is likely to be back Saturday, with possibly Woody which will give us a stronger side. But when I asked Roy if we were bringing anyone else in this week (which it’s obvious to anyone we desperately need) I was told no, which worries me as it’s obvious we need some new players, but it looks like we don’t have the funds to bring them in.

So where we go from here… Who knows

Most offsides are marginal and you have to be in line to give an informed opionion, so I can't comment on most of the decisions that were made last night.

The one I can mention is the one given against 'G' where he was at least two yards onside. Or was it given against a player in the middle? (can't remember where the free kick was taken from?) either way it was a s*it decision.
