the problem with us is............

Well the time has come for me to place my first posting.

The two games over Christmas are not my fondest memories. Whilst I do not for one minute believe that Dagenham or Margate are superior teams to us , I do believe they have something we are lacking and that is passion. Since our slump in form we have lost our way and I would think that moral is at an all time low. We can get over this , we all know we can play a better quality game than we have seen recently. People say “we have injuries and suspensions etc” I say , "so does every other team". At the start of the season we lost more than our share of players to injury , but we got results. Now the injured players are back or on their way back and the excuses begin to tire.

These are a few problems that I think we have at the moment.

Lack of creativity

Lack of awareness in defence , get caught ball watching to often.

Passing accuracy is terrible , we give the ball away to often.

no patience during build up play , why dont we keep it simple? i know we can as i've seen it done..honest!

Midfield seems over crowded in centre of pitch caused I believe by Jacko playing a free role.

Jacko’s free role is not working should move back out wide.

use both sides of the pitch , we do have a talented right sided player.

lack of movement off the ball

why dont we play for 90 minutes? we seem as fit as any other side i have seen , yet we never seem to have a good second half.

now

this would my preferred team for the next few games , I know Giles is unavailable for the Yeovil game. And of course we still await the return of liam , che and please please please Duku…. Soon!!!!!!

.............................Wilkerson

Lee............Barnett.................Giles..........Skinner

.................................Bentley

Kwashi.....................................................Jackson

.............................Wilkins / Budge*

...............Budge / Hatch *............Stadhart / Evans * *

* depending on fitness of Che and Liam budge to play in behind them

** Evans to play if Che and or Liam are sidelined.

I don’t know if anyone will agree with me on any of the above , it will be good to see some other constructive criticism on here about the team for a change , instead of the usual moans and groans about dodgy linesmen and referees.

we are , on our day a match for anyone in this league. we are only halfway into the season so there is still a lot to play for.

its aint over til the fat bloke sings......

Have I missed some vital news?

Like errrrrm.......... is the managers job up for grabs or something. Anyway......

You just about cover every issue in the modern game, passion and workrate, vision, creativity, skill and teamwork.

Your post is obviously thoughtful and interesting reading but I reckon your points could be applied to the analysis of every team in the country with the exception of an elite few and measured against these laudable attributes, most will fall well short of the mark.

It will take Duku time to settle so I wouldent expect him to turn things round too quickly.

Survival is vital and I dont see as yet why it shouldent happen. The players showed enougth earlier in the season, we know they can do it. A few un-committed ones have left so Andy must be aware of whats going on around him.

We have a 4 pt cushion and a reasonably OK run in. One player that could make a big difference is Liam Hatch whose added commitment reflects on the whole side.

Luckily for me work prevented me from seeing the Christmas matches I look forward to seeing the 'Fleet' begin the recovery with a deserved victory over old friends Yeovil (if the rain stops)

Just browsing I noticed your observations and would add some impartial comments,I understand you have a player named Luke Gedling trialling with you,I have watched his progress for years and would consider if you are seeking a player who can pass and move, has two very good feet, can score goals,is great at set pieces, and has a very good engine he is well worth a try.I know he is as you say from a lower level but so is your team. The only criticism I have ever heard of Luke is thet he wont welly it.He expects players around him to be disciplined and focused and most of all honest. We are seeing in football a transition from the old huff and puff game we have had to endure in this country for so long to a more fluid game based on individual flair which is reinforced by top clubs blooding younger players. Some of the calls for your club to go out and buy more expensive 'Conference' players sounds like panic. You have a very good manager who took you up to your current level, trust him, support him.If you have players who are not good enough he will know, your negativity will start demoralising others.
