Ruislip Manor vs Kingsbury

Lato - Okay fair play, I missed that one but 30 yarders will be common place now you have Lambourne on the pay roll, probably one in every two games on average. He also takes a mean free kick Beckham v Greece style.

which one..Beckham had nine or ten free kicks that day 90% of which went way over or hit the wall!

Lato - A bit surprised by your shrug of the shoulders attitude to having Lambourne playing for you, surely you should be over the moon. You can guarantee he'll score again tonight at Brimsdown, I'll eat my hat if he doesn't.

I agree I hope he doesn't score tonight..infact I hope he doesn't even play. So Rhodes how are you going to serve that hat you are going to have to eat?

Why should I be over the moon...Lambourne is a good player but he's never been particularly eye catching in the games I've seen him perform in, but then I've only seen him play four or five times in a team that has ALWAYS lost so difficult for me to be objective about him. I'll have to see him play a few more times before I pass judgement but he must have something for our manager a former centre half to sign him

Lato - Why on earth did you hope he wouldn't score or play for that matter which he didn't and why you probably only ended up winning 2-1. We sent a 'spy' to the game who is compiling a Don Revie style dossier for me 'as we speak', he said that you deserved to win and Brimsdown were nothing to write home about, a lot of huffing and puffing but little else. I gather Rak was at the game so I will be interested to get his view.

Didn't get to Monday's game as the youth team were playing in the first ever competitive game at Harlow's new ground so went there instead but, yes, they've made a good start. Since losing their first friendly, that's now 13 straight wins in all competitions with a very young side. Hopefully, this will bode well for the future.

Were you impressed with Harlow`s new ground, what is the clubhouse like?

The ground is quite impressive although there isn't much behind the goals at either end. The clubhouse is excellent (although there was no alcohol on Monday as the licence hasn't come through yet!) and there are two large glass-fronted function suites upstairs from which you can get a clear view of the whole pitch.

Speaking to the Ryman League Secretary the other day, there are still concerns about a few bits and pieces that are preventing the ground being passed for first team football. The only major problem for me is that the dugouts are far too close to the pitch and I can see players getting injured when they slide off the pitch. To give you an idea, the technical area in front of the dugouts can't be much more than 18 inches long as there is no more room before you reach the touchline and the assistant referee on Monday was struggling to move up and down in front of them. Apart from that, a very nice ground.

Were you at the game last night Rhodes...I didn't spot anyone munching on a sombrero so I assume you weren't.

Lato - No I didn't go as fortunately I got wind on Tuesday afternoon that Lambourne wouldn't be playing. I hadn't actually picked up on the fact that he was Cup tied when I posted on here on Monday about eating my hat which incidentally is a Malcolm Alison style fedora like he wore during Crystal Palace's Cup run in 1976, it would have been quite a mouthful if Lambourne had have played in the game and by some strange miracle didn't score. In the Don Revie style dossier my 'spy' sent me he said that Brimsdown tried some strong arm tactics on you which failed to work, they are also unlikely to work against us when we travel there on Saturday week for the eagerly awaited game of the SSML season so far.

Or is it Malcolm Allison's hat he has eaten?
