Thank you Connex

Recommended Posts

A big thank you to Connex for ensuring that the train I was on ( due to get into Margate at 2:40) broke down at Swalecliffe.. Despite being advised that the train would be moving soon , after an hour and half, most of the footie fans on the train decided to give up, cross over the track and get the next train back home.

Despite cursing at the time, I suppose it did save us from having to watch us lose, and also deprived Margate of some gate revenue.

Don't lose the faith - The Fleet are not just for Christmas ..

Oh , how we laughed when we found out that Wobbly was stuck. Even tho it cost me a few quid in phone calls as I had to keep updating him with the details of the game..

To make it even more amusing , we had offered him a lift, but he said it was quicker by train !!!!!

Are you the original cheeky boy ?

I wouldn't rely on Connex getting me anywhere, I missed the game as well as I read on ceefax there was a noon pitch inspection and waited for the outcome, it then said there was another at 1.15pm but I had to make a decision before that and decided I wasn't going to risk a wasted journey, still I heard commentary on radio kent.

I am sure that it was exetremly hilarious !!!

I did indeed turn down 2 lifts to the game, as being in London I thought that the Victoria - Margate direct line would be quicker , than making my way to sunny Swansconbe for a lift..

How wrong I was ... But at least Connex had the decency not to quibble over a full refund for their shoddy performance... Its pity the Fleet fans that did get down to HP, could n't get the same guarantee.

Well done that cheeky boy - He's stopped being cheeky for a few seconds and finally found the website !! Hopefully you will become an active and cheeky member of the Fleet online community.. I see that your first posting was to make a pledge - Well played that man.

And finally Super Daz - You are indeed right, it was Chestfield and Swalecliffe.Which is very underated part of Kent, but not a particulary exciting place to be stranded...

C'mon you rip roaring reds !

I knew it was at Hartsdown Park but it did say after 12 there would be another inspection at 1.15pm, if I'd waited until then I'd never have got there in time, by all accounts I didn't miss much anyway.
