Charlton Res v Villa Res

What a great match. End to end stuff with great saves and goals all at a really fast pace. Best game I have seen for yonks. Even the chips were hot last night!

Questions. Is Milan Baros the most expensive player ever to appear at Stonebridge Road?

Were the players on show last night collectively the highest value ever on show at the Fleet?

I can't think that any other match would have got near with the likes of Djemba-Djemba, Hendrie, Baros, Berger and Lisbie all being on the same pitch.

I even thought the Ref was good last night but for me Baros was the star turn although the Charlton wingers were really quick.

Just read the report on the Charlton web site and it seems like it was a really good open game. I think it proves to myself that Charlton have a good academy, but will these youngsters get the chance in the 1st team. Maybe a chance for Liam to eye some of them up. The reserves playing at Stonebridge Road should give the Fleet fans a chance to see footballers (like last night) they would never normally get the chance to see. I did consider heading down from Abbey Wood, and wish I had now. But I am sure those that were there, will be back for the next Charlton reserve game!!!

It was indeed a cracking game but what was mystifying was the crowd. 1700 for the Chelsea game and only 300 - 400 last night. Surely they couldn't have been all Chelsea supporters or perhaps the Reporter has more influence than we imagine.....

Perhaps some people expected to see some first teamers in the Chelski stiffs , or even a glimpse of "The Special One " ? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angel.gif" alt="" />

Lisbie and Baros played for their respective first teams yesterday, how much did we pay to see them on Monday?

Excellent fare, live at the fleet!

Not sure whether Baros would have been the most expensive player to appear at Stonebridge Road - I suspect that will be the case, but dont forget we saw Notts Forest at Stonebridge Road in the 80's, the year after they won the League & European Cup and they had their full first team. Given it was c25 years ago, I suspect no one player will have matched Baros's value, but collectively I suspect that would have been the most expensive squad to play there?

Cloughie wasn't really one for big money players but they did have Trevor Francis in the side.
The value of the side would have been pretty high but I doubt that the cost of the side was particularly impressive even in those days.

Was not the transfer of Trevor Francis to Notts Forest a record signing? by being the first ever £1,000,000 player.
