Here we go again.................

It may start to get a bit boring, BUT, the same comments are coming out during Town games this season as did last season.

Why oh why can we not find a REAL centre forward, a player that can win the ball in the air, hold up play and assist our little support forwards ?

I am no great fan of Bryne H, but the guy is trying and does give 100% even if that does not turn into goals every week, BUT, he is no Captain of a side and is in the wrong place on the pitch to be Captain.

How can he lead or assist other players from that position ?

Said it before and will say it again, we are missing the likes of a Brad or Russell or Rudi who could rally the team. Where is our "leader on the pitch" ?

So, lets get a decent forward to assist the current front players and get hold of someone who can lead on the pitch.

It is still a very long season, but results need to improve if Town are going to be involved in the top five later in the season.

Come on JC get it sorted or the team will be playing in front of less than 150 fans at home instead of 350+. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

All incoming calls are being monitored and all "tall callers" are automatically cut off ( or down to squad size at least ) <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bounce.gif" alt="" />

Its called tunnel vision, not seeing the wider picture, stuborness, etc etc!
Totally agree OT, the same frustration is with the defence, admitedly we do have Bastian & Patrick out injured, who look to be two of the best aquisitions in Towns short history, but the constant tinkering is obvious & plain to see NOT working.

JC needs to wake up & smell the bacon soon, before its too late.
We have probaly had our three biggest home gates of the season (baring a cup run) against Hornchurch, Enfield & Sudbury so results need to get better soon or the 150 Old Towner mentioned is reality!

got to agree with those points., Its so frustrating as it seems as if we are 80% of the way there all the time. We definitely need a leader on the pithc to turn these draws into wins. And quick.

It is not compulsory to have tall forwards. I am not a fan of the long ball game anyway - at any level.

 

The other solution, with forwards of more modest stature, is presumably to NOT play the long ball game. Do NOT hoof it up to be competed for in the air, which is in fact lost possession in the hope of regaining it: keep possession, by passing the ball to players with the same colour shirt.

 

I believe it's called football. I passionately believe it can be played at any level on any surface, and should certainly be played by those that proud beast on the white shirt.

Not sure about signing Uncle - perhaps we could take him on a trial match by match basis? If he insists on smoking during the game he must be made to clear his own dog ends off the pitch afterwards though.

 

Of course if he brought the urchinettes as well it would be a different matter. They'd look even nicer in white.

No mention of Hoofing up field...although that is exactly the way Town currently play.
These are, or are not Jim's tactics, but that is the way we play.

okay my serious view based on one game watched....you spent 60 minutes humping balls down the middle against us which macca dealt with whilst talking to his missus on the mobile... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

a couple of changes on the hour and the nippy replacements started running at us from midfield and caused us all sorts of problems and you were unlucky not to get a draw from the game...

there are more accomplished defenders at this level of football than there are accomplished strikers...(the point about aveley is a good one by the way)...no sparks up front but an excellent back 3 who could keep conference strikers quiet..

now macca is 40 years of age...very experienced and will win every ball thrown at him thru the air....

but he doesn't like nippy whippersnappers..... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

its all about opinion and the managers opinion ultimately counts but I do see your point OT...

The point about the back four for Man U is well made and Arsenal had a similar settled back 4 for many years when they were successful under Graham and later Wenger.

 

Now how settled is our back 4?
