WHO RUNS THIS CRAPPY NEW SITE???????

There's a problem with that one news item - Weebo will have to sort it out.

In the meantime here's the bit you can't see:

"It was frustrating (the deciding goal) but I could see it happening, that's how bad we were in my book. We are giving so many stupid goals away. The referee is the worst I have seen, that is the first excuse but it is not the excuse to lose the game. He gave two cheap penalties against us, particularly the second one as I saw it. People near to the incident said that even the winning goal they scored there was a blatant handball, you can go on and on but, at the end of the day, we've got back to two-two and we still can't hang onto that and still can't get a point out of the game.

‘As I said to the players when they came in, if we were sitting here now having come back from two-down with the results we've had recently you'd say ‘well we've got something, we've grasped onto something' and something positive would come out of the game. But we've got nothing. We came back from having had a mountain to climb, thanks to the referee in my opinion, but even though we got back to 2-2 straight away from the kick off they nearly scored.

‘You can't hide those facts, it was a terrible defensive header by Magnus, then with the second ball Chris Seeby was on the deck trying to flick it to Tom Davis, then De Bolla hits the ball and bang it is the back of our net and they've won the game. I didn't feel that they deserved to win the game, they were nothing special, workmanlike, busy, but nothing special and yet they've gone eight games unbeaten. I think that that point could have given us a big lift in terms of confidence for a start because of what has recently happened. What I saw was a naivety beyond imagination. I don't often pick a man of the match but again I thought Damian Batt was quite outstanding, especially considering that he has bit of a groin injury. But I feel that defensively we did look very edgy and naïve. I think we have missed an opportunity to get a point from a game which would have given us a big lift."

In what one hopes was just a momentary burst of anger, or more likely frustration, Colin spoke of changing his ways and just getting a team that lumps the ball forward all the time to clear its lines. He was also disappointed at the manner in which the ball was not held up front.

"You can only get out if you either turn the opposition or get good possession, and they did keep the ball better than us unfortunately, their movement was good and they moved us around. But we got back, showed a bit of character and inner belief and then throw it all away. It is very frustrating. I thought Duane Jackman livened us up, Rob Norris was ok apart from his crossing, Dave Theobald had to come off with a dead-leg and, for me, Kurt Husnu just wasn't doing it.

‘It is frustrating and disappointing when you haven't got everyone available, and this is not an excuse but we have had numerous injuries week-after-week. They don't seem to have come back too quick so that makes it difficult for us but we just have to get on with it and go down to Weymouth next week where everyone will be thinking it is a certain home banker."

The view from south of the river regarding the penalty decisions was somewhat different with just the City penalty being placed under scrutiny. The Saints view that not a single spot kick was justified was strongly challenged by Fleet boss Liam Daish. Daish first spoke of what was going through his mind as St Albans drew level on 89 minutes.

"Unbelievable, ready to read the riot act and sort myself out to keep a lid on things and what I'm going to say at full time. It was probably the first time he (Mark De Bolla) really drove forward and he got his just desserts. I know we've got the quality in the side but sometime we lack a bit of nous and streetwiseness of how to kill a game off, but you can't coach that and sometimes you have to take onboard that they are young. I could see another Aldershot game where we were two-nil up and came away with nothing. I thought the second one was definitely a penalty, I think the referee has done well in not sending the goalkeeper off. He was going away from goal but Luke's (Moore) got in front. I've known Paul Bastock for many years from our days at Cambridge and he's obviously made contact because Luke doesn't go down. Was a bit disappointed with the decision for their (St Albans) penalty"

Bastock was fuming at the decision after the game claiming that he pulled his arms away as the ball went past him. Perhaps the comments of one of the linesman to the referee as he was escorted by a steward at the final whistle give an inkling as to what the correct decision should have been, "Had I known you were going to blow I would not have flagged for a goalkick," he said.
