Don't forget your routes Malcolm

If that wasn't an intentional pun it's got to be just about the funniest thing I've ever read on here when you think about the subject matter!

ROOTS are where you come from as in flowers, trees, growing up from roots, ROUTES are the direction you take when travelling!

Hammerman, I don't think Malc's being awkward on purpose it's just difficult to work out simply.
What he's trying to say is if the bigger coach is going to cost £200 more to hire then we have to take £200 to cover the costs, therefore if 10 supporters go it will be £20 each but if only 5 go it would have to be £40 each. I know it's not impossible to work out but these things have to be done in advance and there's a small amount of people doing a large amount of work at the club already! We will find out how much the bigger coach will cost and post it on here and announce it at Saturday's game, if enough people show an interest ie money up front then we'll know by 5 o'clock if it's a goer or not. If it's a goer and someone who's paid doesn't turn up on the day they will have lost their money as the coach will still have to be paid for.
So, anyone who's interested should register their interest with me during Saturday's game and then gather together near the clubhouse at the end of the match [i have to ring the result in first though], I will then tell the gathered throng how much it will cost and, if you want to book you pay there and then, no faffing about or thinking about it or getting back to me later. Remember though that each person will pay an equal proportion of the extra cost so those that don't pay up straight away push the price up for those that still want to go - I can't be any fairer than that!

I think Lydney might be the nearest station but that is at least 10 miles away. It's only a small station so I can't see there being many trains stopping there on a Saturday.

I blame Doctor Beeching!

Even if the club only runs a coach to one game this season then this should defo be the game.

Thats the most intersting question posted here in months if not years Harty!

Check out the wikpedia article on who's to blame:

No the home side don't pay it's an expense taken from the gate receipts alongside match officials, floodlights, stewards, etc, so we could also be responsible for half of any loss as well. It's also a set fee per mile so it doesn't matter if we take a minbus or a double-decker we still get the same amount ie less than the coach actually costs!

Is it now because he's on the bench he doesn't want supporters i.e. people now beneath him on there? Don't forget your routes Malcolm

Not at all. I would love to get as many people as possible to the game as I believe the team thrive on the support that the travelling fans give them.

I am am mearly trying to point out that the club needs to save as much money as possible as do the supporters and I was just trying to give a more cost effective solution.

As Steve has suggested, if there are enough people willining to pay over the odds prices for the seats then that is fine.

Steve, I would suggest that we aim for a maximum of 20 people as it does start to get a little cramped with more than that.

That's a interesting site Mr P. There was a documentary on the history channel a few weeks ago about that very subject presented by the legend that is Pete Waterman.

One question nobody can answer though is with all the line and station closures how the hell does Sunnymeads remain!

Well done to the club for trying to sort something out for the Cinderford game I'm sure the fans appreciate it.

I not middle class Mr Hart so sadly i won't be able to catch the afore mentioned documentary. I'll either have to wait until it's shown on freeview in 2015 or try and pick it up on video via those advertisements you see on the back of those magazines that fall out the mirror.

Enjoy Cinderford as i don't think i can make it or get there. Those directions telling you to walk through a council estate are enough to put me off.

Pinksy.

Ps The real reason for closure of 80% of the rail network was lack of investment from successive (mainly tory) governemts, the short-sightedness of Mr Beeching who looked at the rail network purely in terms of economics and not as an essential public service and the latter failure of the labour governemt to stop and reverse many of the Beeching cuts when they had the opportunity to do in the late 1960's.

The ideal of the time was that stupid and short sighted that politicians honestly beleived that people would drive to their nearest mainline railway station and ontinue their journey from there. [****!!****] knobs. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />
