Edgware Town 3 - Long Buckby 0

Recommended Posts

Edgware wasted no time in tackling Long Buckby this afternoon when we took the lead within 53 seconds!. A good header from defender Mark Buchanan who got on the end of a good cross. After 18 mins Edgware were two up, a superb goal from the Long Buckby number 10 putting a looping header from a long way out past his OWN keeper!

Edgware should have added to the lead, but several chances went begging.

Second half Edgware seemed to take thier foot of the gas, and let Long Buckby back into the game. Long Buckby had more then a few chances, hitting the post and the bar, and having one cleared off the line. It was not a very good second half performance, but Edgware did enough, and five minutes from time sealed the win with Richard Morton scoring from close range after his header had been saved.

So a 3-0 win, if not completey convicing, and into the 1st round proper.

Brentwood Town beat Southend Manor 1-0 away so we will play them at home in two weeks. Will be a tough one as they like us are second in their league.

Have heard that all is not well at Brentwood Town!! Rumoured that their backer has pulled out. Loads of dosh was spent on the team this year (loads of new players)but if the backer has pulled out they may not be able to afford to keep them. I'll keep you posted Gav.

We lost 2-1 to Ware. Ref was $hite. Had a goal disallowed 1 min from time (stated it was offside but bounce of the chest of one of their players). Pretty sure one of their players got two yelloow cards but stayed on the pitch.

Don't think they have heard of lawnmowers either as the grass was rather long.

Still fans very hospitable and I did get a blow up sheep from the mens loos.

Onto a local pub after for the Reading v Man U game. One two many beers though.

Still had a good day.

....
Reading posts on the ESL forum seems like all is not well at Brentwood and that indeed their investor has pulled out. Seems like Carl Griffiths their ex football league striker is going to be on a lot of clubs wanted list.

Maybe this is a good time to play them, let's hope so.
