We only sing when we're winning

We all keep going on about how during the match, whenthe team are down and need a boost we should start singing and trying to create an atmosphere as they are positively affected by it...

Well today the team obviously needed a boost, yet I heard no singing and no getting behind the team.

Quite strange how singing to support the team has no effect, but slagging them off at every opportunity is going to make them better.

it should, because if I was a player and heard some of the stuff that the fans were saying to day I'd do my best to shove it down their throats. But we can't slag them off because they'll cry, and we must get behind them because it will make all the difference. It won't because this is the biggest shower of sh1te squad we have had at the club in years

Put it this way: if I paid your wages, and it looked to me that you just couldn't care less about your job, would you expect me NOT to criticise or turn around and sing to the high heavens about how well you were doing though to all the world you were just not good enough. Some people need to take a look around the real world for a change. Spurs fans booed their team off the pitch last week when they got a 0-0 draw against Fulham. What makes Slough so different that we can't do the same?

i have to agree with liam for once, the players are paid to play football, we are the ones who pay to watch them, so we should expect the players to give their all in the games. to give credit some of them do wilko had a good day today, but it doesnt work unless the whole team shows the effort. im not convinced that singing will make the team better, but we can only get behind them if we see them make the effort.

POINT WAS:

We come on here saying that we should get behind the team during the match and rip them to shreads afterwards. We seem convinced that singing and creating an atmosphere will generate a response from the team.

Today, we didn't seem to test that theory. So either:

1. We're all fools for thinking such crazy things that getting behind and encouraging the team will do more for their morale than constantly having a go at them

or

2. We all say things that we can't be bothered to put into action.

Ok... lets put this in perspective:-

1) There was not ONE abusive chant, despite our current league position. (not many teams could say that from where we are)

2) The only negative chants were humourous (and needed to stop people comitting suicide)

3) After we went 1-0 the woman stuck in her car took most of our attention anyway.

4) after we went 2-0 down pens and babies took the rest of our attention

5) can see where you are coming from nath but dont think positivity from fans can do that much when we can lose to the likes of folkestone.

6) chicken and egg (as ive said before) bad performances= negativity from fans, but i dont think the reverse applies here.

7) Yes i agree it would be more enjoyable for all to be positive and we were until another set piece blunder killed us off. After that trying to stay sane by having a laugh at it was the best way.

8)I think the fans can be blamed if they directly shouted abuse at the players. I know i didnt and wouldnt, and apart from shouts of 'Thats **&^* X pass it quicker' etc there was no direct abuse.

9) The fans are gettign a lot of stick on here but we are still coming, after the recent showings, i think the fact that more than 5 turn up should encourage the players.

10) If everyone gave 100% all the time like Wilko (and Wallace (who i heard did play through injury) ) there would be no abuse, I think its a [seemingly] lack of pride, passion and commitment that is annoying people. i would chant my socks off as would everyone else, if players were giving everything they had even if they were getting stuffed!

11) the farnborough match will show a lot, as the ginger one and i discussed on the way home... we will see.
