Todays Game

Either proths or Oates at the back for me.

You can't take a risk on Smith in Tuesday's game;which is no disrespect to him; but he is still learning;and whilst he got better as the game went on; he did make mistakes on Tuesday including one in first 10 mins when he gave Fleet the ball and they had a shot at an open goal, but credit to Smith where he recovered to clear the ball off the line himself(a long winded way of saying he looks a good prospect, but still has a lot to learn at this level and Tuesdays game is not for him).

agreed but at the mo we need some one with pace at the back , unfortunatly thats Proths until RT finds and works out the back four that will finally finish the puzzle he`s doing, Sappleton was the answer but that won`t happen now .

blessing in disquise that Bertie is back on the scene to replace Proths in midfield if needed.

to whoever it was said that trott caused us problems at the back and should stick to the management side, i have to disagree as he was superb today, he won everything in the air all day long and showed his experience against younger faster players a couple of times. wild is worrying tho, donovan should be brought back. mckimm had his best game for a while, got stuck in a lot, not a spectacular player tho, but did well today. well pleased to see bertie come on and thought he did well, good skill and touches, aswell as his obvious confidence. like the idea of protheroe at right back linking up with abbot, pinnock and either mckimm, jay, or whoever is playing there, attacking the right side in triangles, exciting prospect.

Bertie should be allowed to roam on the pitch freeing up space around , using his pace & trickery to pull opposition to him , took at least 2-3 players with him each time he had the ball today making space for players that should have been there but wer`nt, as said in other posts Mckimm is knackered and Abbot is running himself into the ground ,thats why these empty spaces we are trying to create are still empty because the midfield is Knackred .

I don't think we should be disheartened with this result. I would probably have taken a 0-0 before the game. After all, Wimbledon have only conceded three goals all season. And we are still very much in the hunt. And, furthermore, Ramsgate were crushed 4-0 by Chelmsford - a team we comprehensively beat!

Upthegate, whos whinging about him then? Seems Trotty has given him a chance & I cant see anywhere where others havent either, even those in the know of the situation that has gone before concerning him.I have gone through this thread & cant see anyone putting him down today or who hasnt welcomed him back.If you are talking about the past then there was good reason to turn previous admiration of him to dislike but thats now in the past,we hope!

As a player I doubt there are many,if any,who dont appreciate his talent as a footballer.

No whinging in this thread you're right but there has been in others. Not sure who from but an earlier thread even speculated about whether he would be applauded if he played!. Others have commented that they would prefer him to leave the club. I dont know the details of the problems he's had with trotty but personally i like him and think he should be given a chance.

Thought we were solid and organised in defence (mainly thanks to Trotty and SCS once again) and closed down well in midfield with patches of good possession but nothing happened in the final third in fact don't remember their keeper making a save! Bit concerned that the goals have dried up after the fireworks of the first few matches - just 2 goals in last 5 games now - DH and JP just not getting the service. Hope Bertie starts on Tues as he looks like he could make something happen and has the extra class. Rest of the midfield are good battlers but give possession away too easily and do not take players on enough. Not a bad result by any means but we just need to be more assertive at home and have the confidence to shoot and run at defenders more.
