although we were bad (and they were almost as bad to be fair) i dont think we need much to improve. more strength and height up front is a must!!

we showed we were desperate by bringing on Westie at HT!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

piss poor first half, they were first to every ball & we looked very lacklustre.

2nd half was better, but we might as well stick Jarvis up front as a target man if all we are gonna do is lump it. When we did get a couple of 'hit and hope' crosses in there was no one in the centre.

At least Alexis puts his foot in & he tries to pass the ball. No one else seems to want to.

im glad i only pay the student entrance fee because that was rubbish IMO, i ran from the train station in less than 15 minutes to catch the start of the game, now i wish i hadnt. it was so poor, one of the worst performances i have seen.

alexis seemed to be trying hard but that was a bright spot in the day, folkstone were barely better than us though, and we conceded silly goals again.

we did get in round the back of the defence again, but the crosses often came to nothing.

only 1 clear cut chance when their keeper made a fantastic save from nowhere after a header from a corner. other than that not a lot to get excited about, a few half chances.

the ref was rubbish too, i thought that high foot in the box would have been a penalty.

much improved performance needed on tuesday, you could see the players looked very down after the game today, but unfortunately we need that passion much earlier.

thought it wouldve been more worthwhile bringing on harris instead of west.

o well, bring on tuesday i guess.

Am still wondering why Odhiambo makes the team, as he brings nothing. At least Harris has a ittle more muscele than he has.

Why or why oh why oh why do we always wait until the game is beyond us to start making substitutions?????????

It was obvous today that with McCleary playing down the right alongside Alexis with Odhiambo in the middle, we weren't going to score in a million years. So why wait until we are 2-0 down with 5 minutes left to bring on Daryl Harris?

Surely we could have done that 15 minutes earlier to see the effects and gve him a chance to change the game. Its something we've been doing alot recently I think it needs to stop.

Has anyone looked up to find the definite answer as to how the kick on Wilko's head in the second half, inside the penalty area, resulted in an indirect free kick? Were the laws definitely amended to state that all fouls in the area are now a penalty?

Can't wait to see that save from their keeper either. Looked a great save, and also would like to see their two goals again as I thought Drake was at fault on both.

If anything, I'd be looking at sticking Jarvis upfront. He's got onto a lot of things leading to goals or shots already this season and given our lack of presence upfront, could be a stop gap.

from the FA rules pages (FA rules)

Quote:
Indirect free kick

An indirect free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if a player, in the opinion of the referee:

plays in a dangerous manner

i assume that the high foot offence comes under this category. im not sure if it counts as kicking as he was going for the ball.

it only says about awarding penalties for the 10 offences linked to direct free kicks, not for the ones linked to indirect free kicks, so maybe, unless this page is out of date, he was actually right.

if however you could class the incident as kicking then it should have been a penalty (from the direct free kick section).

Gary totally agree, i got their keepers attention at the end to tell him i thought he was superb, and made 2 fantastic saves...

Also would like to know after you've seen vid footage their second looked like an OG from where i was..

Apart from that i will not comment on the match, except to say Folkestone looked distinctly average (no offence when some stones fan comes on here and has a go) but they comprehensively out fought and out played us today.

Having spoken to Budman, who was standing behind our goal, the second goal went in due to a mix up between the two players (Daley? and Dell?). By the time Drake got to it the ball was already in. However, video may prove otherwise. Shame really as Dell and Daley have been two of our better players and that mistake was costly.

reflection ;

First half we were at our poorest so far this season...the players need to look hard and deep in them selves ..the players giving it all (we know who they are) the others must do there part too.. Its no good us slagging individuals off, the team should take this fair and square on their shoulders, Some of our players have it within themselves and have shown this but now is the time to dig in deep or if they are not happy , now is the time to go....

Second Half , we were a bit better and could have dragged ourselves back into the game with the 2 or 3 good chances we had..but it was not to be...

I Personally feel , Eddie has had enough and like most on here feel a bit stayle and need for a re shuffle...and maybe now is the time to do it...

as for keeping faith ...its your club...what ever happens...united we stand divided we fall...

we need passion - and effort ...if we play reasonable and lose its not such a bitter pill to swallow but if no effort and no passion , we feel very disapointed...and have every right to be unhappy too....

its so easy to support a winning team ..but supporters too have to have guts to stay aboard while things are going sour...and keep the faith... yes its hard but thats the name of the game...
