In reply to Not Express:

As an aspiring journo myself, its a little too easy to storm in and accuse the Express of doing no work themselves... I for one understand that when there is so much sport to cover in the local area (let's not forget the Express covers the cricket, ladies football, hockey, ice hockey and martial arts to name a few), its difficult to get as many correspondants out as they need. For one thing, although the Express is now a Trinity News product, they are still essentially a free paper for the majority of its readership which limits the funds they can store for freelancers or new correspondants.

Having said that, I was rather disappointed that I didn't receive any credit on the website as a contributer, but the important thing is its more public recognition for the club.

Gary:

They have adlibbed a lot of it, but to be fair, the 'newspaper' version I wrote and sent them was probably not written close enough to the style of the Express, and in my last email (sent with the Ani interview), I included a transcript of my original interview with the invitation to take from that any additional information they felt would suit the story.... it would be nice to get a by-line though, just so I can build up my portfolio.

As I understand it they were trying to get a windsor representative to do a similar sort of interview each week with their players... I wonder if mal/woody/chelle can think of anyone who'd happily do that?

I have also opened the sports pages of the Express in the past to read things I have written for the website, word for word (the end of season awards round-up was one). It's nice to see work you've written printed in the local rag, and it helps promote the club a bit more, but I would have to agree that they really should give some sort of credit to the original author(s)!

Same with me, think the Heybridge report from last season was one of the ones they nicked from me anongst other things <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Did they actually print out any of these things in the paper itself 'cos they did for my reports towards thwe end of least season?

Charlie, I get this every season from the Observer taking my match reports and passing them off as their own.

I would have no problem supplying them with reports if they want them, but I don't see why people like ourselves who spend the time writing them should get no recognition.

Reply sent along with my orginal letter and his scribbled note to the trust...as proof he was distorting the truth again....

hope the observer prints it...along with copy of both letters...
