Going back to excuses for skiving off work. The Car won't start is a very popular one.

 

I once worked with two brothers called Callan who were Golf fanatics,you hardly ever saw them on a monday or friday the excuse was usually our mum is very Ill , They both got sacked eventually.

 

Also knew a guy called McTavey (we nicknamed him Maccanory as in jackanory)He was a Geordie and he was a classic liar ,every other week a relative of his had died Including his sister,Niece ,brother in law and even his Mother ?.He would disappear for Days sometimes weeks . What a laugh when his mum phoned up two months later asking for him to come to the phone, He was sacked within half an hour. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" />

 

Also knew a guy called Ray who asked for Time off as he was getting married .So the staff had a collection for him (Almost £100 )and he was granted the time off as he had used up his holiday. It turned out that our boss's daughter went to an aerobics class and Ray's so called wife who was also a member unbeknown to Ray,The two of them struck up a conversation as they got to know each other better. When she was asked about the wedding she replied WHAT WEDDING ? WE ONLY MOVED HOUSE THATS ALL ! Ray was sacked the next day . <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" />

One on NOT skiving off work....

 

Many years ago, I was working in the Personnel Department of a factory in Willesden.

 

The Security guys rang me from the gate in the early afternoon, to say that three police officers had arrived and wanted to speak to us about interviewing a member of staff. They came down to the office and asked if a particular guy was in work. I asked them what it was about and they were quite cagey, but said they must see him. Anyway I checked and the guy had clocked on for the afternoon shift on time. We got his supervisor to bring him to the office where the Police officers arrested him for murdering his wife, during the lunch break.

 

I could not believe that somebody could clock off, do that and then turn up for work in the afternoon, clocking in on time as if nothing had happened. Apparently he stabbed her in the street, where he was seen, but ran off, cleaned himself up and came back to work.

 

Strange.....
