Gazza, TC - bonjour!

It's just that I keep looking for them you see.

I've given up looking at the very top (it always seems to be Kent clubs these days!), but I can't even find them in the top half!

I see all the big clubs, your good selves included and even a village team from 'down the hill', but no one from the 'County Town'.

They haven't moved again have they?

Off the record, I'll tell you that we've become so concerned about our missing neighbours that we've even thought about offering to use their ground for our reserve team fixtures to generate a bit of money for them, but there are doubts at Cressing Road if our reserve team fans will travel.

Will North Essex ever be the same again?

nws, a slow start, yes, but never looking over our shoulderrs at the drop zone! (only kidding)

To be honest, it would be great to see both you and Ricay in Connie South. Gazza would have a field day ...

As to standards, yes there is a step up in quality. You get less time on the ball and you have to take your half chances.

The pitches (and facilities in general) are all so much better and the competition is very well run. We're starting to find our feet now, but there's even more money swilling about in the Connie South, so we're not having it all our own way!

If it was just down to the pounds, shillings & pence Fisher will win it, but both Salisbury & Histon look strong. And as we're finding out, it's also about having the facilities to go up and the resources to stay there if you do.

We'll find out a bit more about the chances of the 'little ol' Crittalls works team' when the Conference ground grading inspectors visit next Wednesday.
