What constitutes a good season?

I have been thinking for some time about what my hopes are for this season!

I think a good season for me would be a top half finish a very good season would be a play off place!

Am I alone in not wishing for a promotion, do not get me wrong it would be great but I think a good solid consolidating season would be good for some of our youngsters to learn.

Some of our players (60%) I think are good enough for Ryman Premier but do we have the depth yet???

Going into the last day with a chance of making the play offs would be fantastic.

Consolidation seems to be what everybody wants, and who can blame them? But there has to be ambition as well, otherwise there is no point going out onto the field. To be near or in the play-offs would be excellent and make an exciting end to the season. But what I really want is to get to the end of the season and be able to look back over a season of magical moments, excitng games, near misses and, most of all, some really entertaining football.

If we carry on the way we have started, I think my wish could come true.

For me it has already started and we have already had some magic moments, Dobbo selling that Maldon player a dummy last night, the second goal last night was pure football, the "who the f^ck is dobbo moment", there have been a good many more already.

My biggest fear for this season is those fairweather supporters who see a defeat and start walking out early or do not turn up to the next match.

The difference between last years team and this year is, when we put in a performance like we did against Lowestoft that really hurts John and the players.

The best time to go is the next game because you are certain it will be a very different performance.

I think this season will be a bumpy exciting ride!

We are already seeing a few creep off and watch other games, I do not care where you went last night it did not beat what we saw at Park Lane.

Anyone know how the coach to Ware is selling??

Whilst ressie results are not that important in the greater scheme of things, two 0-8 defeats in the last three suggests Canvey DO lack the depth to cope with injuries to key players!!

Your best 11 could defintely push for top 6.

I would like a really impressive unbeaten run going into the end of the season and getting in the play-offs and winning promotion. However, to really have a chance of this and staying in the Ryman Premier next season, i think performances and results would have to start being more consistent and convincing to even stand a chance. I'm not trying to put a slur on the team, but we need results against teams like Ware to be able to do that.

That said, i would also be happy with a top half of the table finish and a good trophy run ending with a match against conference opposition.

What are we thinking now then? Still a long way to go this season of course, but what form we're on! And it's not as if we're outplaying relegation candidates every week here, several are fighting for promotion like us. Just like you wanted chalky <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Still got a young team, hungry for success and learning all the time but how much more will they be able to learn from another full season at this level?

I think the boys have already surpassed any expectations we had at the start of the season and I can't wait to see what they do in the years to come.

Come on you yellows!

It's just nicely reassuring to know that after all the sh*t in the summer, we have a team that has finally put the shakiness aside and know how to play together.

I know i haven't seen a whole match yet but from the highlights, it reminds me of the Trophy winning season where we played fluid and with confidence.

I'm not gonna compare them to that side because that is not fair but its just the way they are playing that makes it feel like the old days again when it was just brilliant to be a Canvey fan.

Keep up the good work boys!

Yesterday was just like a return to the good old days of the Ryman Premier when we were absolutely steamrollering teams. Except the atmosphere is better now (we were still singing at 6-1 up, that wasn't the case in the past)

Don't think we'll win the league somehow but play offs are definitely attainable and I'm convinced we'll still be fighting for a promotion place come the end of the season.

Players who we rated really highly at the start of the season like Lee Jay, Ryan Edgar and Jay Curran are returning to form and the likes of Dave Kreyling and Dobbo are using their experience to great effect.

This season reminds me of the year we lost out to Aldershot when we made a very inconsistant start to the season and took a while to get going. We then went on a long unbeaten run from about November and eventually came 2nd behind Shots.

We're doing a similar thing at the moment. I'd be happy with 2nd and home advantage in the play offs. Would make it an exciting end to the season.

At the highest placed clubs ground so if we finish 2nd, we're at home for both the semi and final.
