Exeter City v St Albans City

Eh?

How about, as an opening paragraph:

"In comparison with two seasons ago when Colin Lippiatt saved the Saints from relegation from the Ryman Premier League, the current position of 16th in the Conference Nationale must be considered an unqualified success and minor setbacks like a 4-2 defeat at Exeter with an injury-ravished side can be put into context. Nothing this season mattters one jot as City gained promotion from the Conference South last season and anything that happens this year should go down in the annals of the club in small print compared to the successers of the past two seasons. Err... Pulsating."

These local hacks, eh Rob. They haven't got a clue. Was it necessary to quote the score as 4-2, I ask myself. It's negative reporting like what that is what costs this club £20,000 a year.

According to todays St Albans Observer, Colin Lippiatt was not a happy bunny after Tuesday's performance against the Grecian 2000s.

"Not one outfield player did himself any credit" fumed the Saints Supremo. "There will be changes for Saturday" blasted the most successful manager in the whole history of St Albans City FC ever. "I've confistcated the keys to their club Ferrari's and the so-and-sos can walk home from Devon". Errr.. No, he didn't say the last one, I made that up but the first two are quotes from the paper.

Hmmmnnn.

Hang on a second Colin, I thought. 'Not one outfield player did himself any credit'? Where we we last season? Eh? What about when you single handedly saved the club from relegation from the Conference South two seasons ago? Eh?

It's negative stuff like that which if it puts off [sic] even 50 spectators coming on Saturday will cost the club £20,000 a year.

It probably wasn't a good time for the hack to ask Colin whether he would describe the game as 'pulsating', or whether we could take any positives from the match. I suspect that he didn't spot the 'two major crumbs of comfort', either.

Well done, Rob. I do like that. I far prefer "croutons" to "major crumbs". I like it so much that I might leave a note for that bunch of hacks what sit in the press box on Saturday. I glanced in last Saturday and they can't move for lap-tops! Fantastic. I expect the chaps from the Sheppey Fisherman's Monthly will be broadcasting live to the Estuary on Saturday. Just another small change that we have to accept in the Conference Nationale.

How long is Matt 'Matty' Hann expected to be out, Rob?

Not sure about Matty, AFF. No doubt the next issue of 'tales from the treatment table' will be out tomorrow with all the grisly details.

As far as I know Scott "Scotty" Cousins is seeing a specialist and still has some ironmongery in his leg but could possibly play, providing he doesn't go near any magnets <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Ben "Pinetree" Martin has been spotted kicking a ball so may only be a week or two away from full training.

Dat's all I know!
