Any budding report writers for Fleet vs Margate?

Due to work commitments I am regrettably unable to either get to, or cover tonight’s FA Cup replay against Fleet Town. So, here’s a deal for you. How about compiling and e.mailing a match report to me? I’ll post the report – you’ll obviously get the credit for writing the report - and I’ll invite you to be my summariser for one of our live commentary games! The report doesn’t have to be very long, but should contain important information including the Margate line up, substitutions and of course goal scorers. Of course if there is more than one report, I’ll need to judge a winner so no guarantees! Any takers?

Cheers, Wellsie.

Well, good luck to the guys that try, because you spend about 5 hours travelling, and then you cannot really be a true fan and relax and watch and enjoy the game because, if you want to do a good job you have to scramble around for an opposing team sheet, and then try to record the action as it happens. And you have to get the opposing team's highlights down as well as your team, so you can be as even handed as possible.

Then when you get home, and are tired, you spend a couple of hours writing it down, and you do it fairly quickly even if you are very tired because you are aware that fans who were not fortunate to be at the game will want to see something in a reasonably short time after the game.

And you are glad to do it because someone has asked you to do it for a favour, and hell, it is something you can do to help the club. It is not something you are used to doing, and it is a lot more difficult than many people think who have not done it.

Then you sit back and hope to hell you do not uspet some creep who will trash you for your spelling, opinions, action, lifestyle or efforts.

Enjoy.

MF - I've always really appreciated your reports and recognise the commitment you have put in to ensure that they are accurate and balanced. I really think you should ignore what's said after a disappointing game when negative vibes are running high. Anyone who is willing to undertake the task gets an enormous vote of thanks from me. Hoping for the best tonight and look forward to hearing any reports.

A very well constructed post June(as always) & I have every sympathy with anyone wishing to do a report.Having seen Frankie busily jotting details down last night I must say concentrating on the game as a supporter normally does cant be easy & must surely spoil the occasion somewhat.

I can understand & appreciate the hard work that must go into such reports.

However sometimes those that attend may disagree with ones report in some way & that too must be respected. It certainly dosent warrant being called a "creep" however.

We havent see eye to eye in the past & we have seen a similar scenario erupt on a previous occasion between you & I as has been seen over the past week.(Hence my abstaining from entering into the argument).

With hindsight I may have been wrong to include detailed & personal thoughts within my replys about those reports. We all have our own views & quite rightly so & I for one cannot abide personal issues to enter into things I post that are maybe disagreed with, as has been seen this week, therefore it would hypercritical of me to do similar.

It is hard sometimes however to see a player clearly have a really poor game etc & it being so obvious to most & I emphasise "most",not all, then to see a report stating he was indeed good.It is both hard to understand & accept sometimes.

To come on the forum is to sometimes get things off of ones chest,as I certainly see it that way occasionally.

I would like to apologise here & now publicly for past inabilities to understand the need to keep personal issues out of it.

A simple disagreement of a report should be acceptable without going into further personal reasons as to why certain reports are disagreed with. A simple reason should be enough without the personal bit.But a pure & simple disagreement has to be accepted from both parties.

I have been guilty of not doing that myself as you well know not just with yourself but with others too & I wish to apologise for having stepped out of line previously.I most certainly will try & keep any future disagreements of a report down to just the disagreement of it.If indeed a disagreement is warranted.

All this falling out between everyone is not good to see & yes,I have been an instigator of such at times myself. No-ones perfect I repeat NO-ONE. I would like you to accept my apologies on this & I am sure other parties who have similar views & ways of communicating to mine will also wish for these arguments to come to a halt.Once & for all. Would be nice for us all to be as one AGAIN!

Well said Tony, I for one hate personal attacks. Ok to have a laugh and a joke and obvious disagree about things but that is as far as it goes. Good on you for apologising too

A decent thing to have said, Cookie, and appreciated.

I apologise for the word creep, maybe I used it because it felt creepy to know that my actions had been under scrutiny so that they might be used in attacks against my opinions. A bit like stalking that and too close for comfort. At one point in my week I was questionning whether I would ever feel comfortable at Hartsdown again, or want to go there, and the jury is still out on that one.

I have been mocked in that way, over several seasons now by persons various, about all the things that I enjoy in going to games (e.g. sponsoring a player, talking to the players, doing match reports, trying to keep upbeat when things are not going so well). It has certainly damaged the pleasure that I get out of those things. I probably won't want to do them again in the near future.

And by the way, I have never said anything is good unless it is something I truly believe, my fault perhaps is in concentrating on the good bits at the expense of the bad. There are enough folks around to do the bad.

Where we go from here is anyone's guess.
