Good Luck today!

I've been having trouble with Radio Kent commentaries over the net lately so hope I can sort something out today. The Terriers are away also and I've not travelled this time, so it's gonna be hard to listen to two games at once. Think I might need a glass of wine or two!

Three points today will put Fleet in a great position, so here's hoping!

Hi BB,

The first half was a bit drab. Charlie had an early effort and later in the half Lance made a fine diving save to his right. I thought that we were unsettled by Keeling having to go off as so much of our inventive forward play has come from him. However, George Purcell put in a good performance as his sub. I can't understand how he was substituted himself in the second half. His corners and crosses were very well delivered. Perhaps Slatter should have given way instead. I also thought that Mark Ricketts had a particularly good first half.

In the second half we were, I thought, fortunate to get both penalties for what were two fairly soft challenges. Charlie put them away with virtually identical penalty kicks (as they say in Scotland). The St Albans penalty was I believe for a handball and the equaliser a result of a poor defensive header. Sodje came on and had some chances. We only really came alive when it looked like we would lose 2 points. The winner was well struck with some considerable power. The keeper got a hand to it only for the ball to hit the post and go in. Apart from St Albans kicking off again that was all there was time for.

An exciting finish!

Incidentally, whats all this on the St Albans forum about their "goal" that wasnt given despite the ball being "clearly over the line"?

I recall the incident, early in the second half I think so didn't get a good look at it... there was an appeal, but not much. Think it was when one of our defenders (Hawkins maybe?) made a clearance on the line, it ricocheted back to him and he had to hook it off the line again.

Thought De Bolla took his goal well. Had been out of sorts for much of the game, but when the ball came to him at the end, he shimmied right, made room for himself to be sure of the shot, and didn't just blaze it on sight.

It was the strangest away game I been too in a while. The entire first half you could have heard a pin drop it was so quiet. If it were not for the old train going by I might have nodded off! Once they scored their supporters suddenly woke up. It made me jump that sudden noise from the other end of the pitch!

Have you read LD in the NLP. Its like he says.

"It was unbelievable, I was ready to read the riot act at the players. Then DeBolla for the first time really drove into the box and he got his deserved goal and I know that we have the quality but lack the streetwise mindset to be able to kill games off.

But you cant put that into players and you cant coach it either

The team is still improving tactically and gaining important experience by being successful.

We will get there.

PS Nice article about the new ground/site as well.

A mention really, with some interesting points.

Thanks Brian, keep up the good work.

Never satisfied some people !!

No-one's complaining Hirsty! People are just making observations, no criticism. If someone says the first half was drab, well it was, fact. Which made the finale even better. I think everyone's satisfied with a last-second winner!
