Linesman Query

I'd always assumed that the rules of football would say that a lino should stay on the same side/end in the first and the second half, so that one team doesn't suffer from the same bad lino in both halves.

 

But I notice that often (always?) at our level, we have the same linesman monitoring our forward line in both halves.

 

What do the rules actually say?

i have also noticed that they sometimes take a position on the RB's side. I always thought a linesman stood on the LB's side???

Which side the assistant referee (not linesman!)stands (i.e. RB or LB) is totally at the discretion of the referee. As for switching ends at half-time I have no idea.
