exeter match thoughts

got to say 1st half less talk the better i would say the ref was a cheat and to be honest we were poor.

BUT whatever Daishy said at half time worked a treat and bringing on slatts and sodje for moore and coleman was a great descision.

today showed again how far we have come, last year if we were 2-0 to exeter at half time we would of concided another couple of goals but today like tuesday we showed great profession and desire to get the 2 goals back and i thought sodje was going to win it at the end ahhh.

great support from the drum lot and back where they belong and everyone well done

keep the belief and the run going, bring on tuesday!

Much better second half, Sodje did make all the differene and well done again to Keeling for the energy he produced from the 1st to the 93rd minute as always.

Great support from the drummer and co behind the goal!

And those Exteter fans were vile, as usual.

My little sister came along for the first time she really enjoyed it.

Quite a bad-tempered match though, and didn't it feel a bit like a cup match? I thought so anyway, there was a great atmosphere.

Good result!!

Come on the fleet!!

He's not a cheat if he hasn't got anything to gain, unless of course you think he had something to gain financially, but then you'd need evidence in which case lets see it. I just think he was poor, not a cheat. Oh and it looked like he'd had a Lobotomy.

Poor first half, better second. That one right at the end Sodje should of as hard as he could. Without that I would have been happy with 2-2 but seeing how he missed it I'm a little pee'd off. Great spirit to come back from 2-0 down against a League 1 team.

I think give Exeter a little credit for matching our energy and stopping us from playing in the first half. Up to when they scored I thought we were still the better team and after 15 minutes (famous last words) I didnt think that they would score, two quality approach balls, one corner the other from the edge of the penalty box did the damage, we were struggling then up to half time but not out of it, Liam did his bit and the boys did the rest. Brilliant and proud, we have a quality team this year, maybe the best in the clubs history to date.

It doesn't mitigate the miss but I was standing pretty much in line and Sodge was at least two yards offside when he received the ball, the linesman didn't flag and it presumably would have counted but he was definately offside.

Yeah, I thought the same and so did he because he hesitated and it then never quite happened for us, never mind, still unlucky not to nick it, and it would still have been a fair result at 3-2 for me.

Yeah, I actually meant the terrace. Whoops. There were two blokes who came together aswell as another two, and I believe all four were nearby for a cricket match and had time to come see a game. It was only really one person out of the lot who was a problem.

I think he got moved into a seat...or at least, that's what he said.

Unlucky today, I thought we needed to bring Ricketts, who I felt had a brilliant second half (But then again every player did), into defence, as the 3 at the back didn't work against so many attack minded players.

The first half started well but we didn't seem to know what we wanted to do with the ball after we went 1 down. I felt that the midfield were playing well, especially Coleman and Quinn.

The second half, well what can I say? We were absoloutley amazing. The indroduction of Sodje's all round play made Exeter shake in their boots!! Slatter played well in the second half but needed to improve his touch in the final third.

Perhaps could've, or should've. won the game, but as posted on here earlier, Sodje probably thought he was offside and hesitated. But let's not hold that against him!!! Charlie and Keeling also both improved in the second half.

Two great headers as well, we've definately got better players in the air this season!

The atmosphere was amazing in the Northfleet end today!! The noise we all created spurred the team on, and reminded me of the old days, when it was terracing.

So Overall, after a brilliant second half, play like that against Rushden, who drew with Stafford today, and we'll get at least a point!!

Without a doubt we were out played in the first half, Exeter had done their homework. Their No.2 kept Keeling under control, preventing him from getting his usual crosses in. Plus, their passing in midfield was more accurate, giving their front men time to get forward. We looked dead and buried.

According to Ross Smith, in the post match interview, Liam had a few choice comments to make at half time, understandably. An inspired(?) change worked wonders. No offence to Moore or Coleman, but in a very physical game they were out muscled. Well done to the lads for pulling together and playing as a team, a stoic performance, 2-2 was probably fair.

My one gripe is that Sodje should of played to the whistle, when he was one on one. Okay, maybe he was offside, but none of the officials reacted. If he had scored and the goal was disallowed, then fine, but what if he'd scored and it was allowed. We'd still be 6th, but only 6 points off the leaders.

Bar maybe Oxford, the league is tight and from what I have seen this season Exeter are good enough, I think that we are, but there are probably 10 others that fit the bill for one place.

Its a great league, and yesterday was another great game, full of committment, bar the men in black who as much as they tried to disrupt it never succeeded.
