TODAYS GAME

I thought we were meant to be trying to do well in the FA Cup. It didn't look like it. Not enough effort. Just not good enough. Sorry Trotty but you're gonna have to get some fingers pulled out of backsides because most of the team look like they know their place is sealed for the whole season. When Fleet had the ball there wasn't enough pressure on the ball from the midfield, closing down etc. They were given free reign out wide and should have punished us. Scott kept us in the Cup.

I thought Scott was out of this world again. Some stupendous saves again. He is destined for better things ahead in his life. Why hasnt he been snapped up before now? Mind you he is getting plenty of practice standing behind our fellows unfortnately.Still what an outstanding talent we have in him. Time we gave him some rest, not by dropping him but by not allowing him to have to make those saves. We would have lost more games by now without him. Jackson did well.Cant agree with you Alex on that. But again, your opinion.

Sappleton was brilliant in his first game back. One error I saw from him thats all.I feel so sorry for James up front. He does all the things right Holds the ball well, controls the ball(except for one occasion that I can remember-bad bounce)& lays it off well too but without the support he needs he will get frustrated one day just like some of us are.Danny looks completely knackered. The others were no-where near the players we know they are! I think I've said all I am going to say now.At least we are still in the cup for Mondays draw & we conceded to the nil MM. How,I dont know but we are & we did!!

Much credit to the FLEET team of youngsters who showed US how to be committed, agile & adventurous.I just have a feeling thay they will regret not having taken our scalp at the first time of asking despite todays shocker.

Just as bad as the latter Kinnear days at present! We have gone from the sublime (Chelmsford) to the ridiculous in the space of a few weeks. Need a big performance from ALL the players on Tuesday but on current form you'd have to make Fleet favourites. On the plus side Sappleton is a big improvement in central defence but worryingly we have scored only once in last 3 games now.

I agree with most of what has been said above. In particular McKimm out, Saunders in.

As others have said Jay does all jobs well and plays his socks off every game. It's hard for a new-ish manager to drop senior players, but Trotty you have the backing of the board and the fans so just do it.

Sappleton is just right at the back there, and with Saunders in too we will start to move the ball forward in the middle as well as down the wings.

The other thing is that we are playing a wide game but not getting the ball into the box. We seem to be farting around with little one-twos by the corner flag instead of crossing. The reason is too much stress on keeping possession and not enough on feeding the front men.

In fact you see Pinnock playing deep and Hockton drifting wide because they are not getting the service. If the crosses were coming in regularly those guys would be getting on the end of them.

So what about the plus points? Sappleton a big plus for me. Also the fact that Trotty is addressing the exact points that we fans know need improving, not bleating in the local paper about bad luck or having the wrong players (he must be working hard behind the scenes - glad I am not waiting for him to build my extension).

Sappleton was very good, I thought, brave and strong, and Chris Wild too.

Abbott had a good game, and worked very well with Pinnock, who holds the ball up well, full of effort and running. But he is a forward, and not a midfielder, so we need to get the midfield doing this more so that Pinns can do what he does best upfront.

We should use Jimmy more, stood many times on the left hand side in acres of space, calling for the ball, and was not fed that many usable balls. I also thought that, in our early games, a lot of the chances came from the interplay between Skins and Jacko, and did not see as much of that today.

SCS outstanding, as ever.

Danny looked very tired, but we should remember what a fantastic player he is, and cut him a bit of slack. Plus deliver him some balls he can run on to.

Oates played well.

I cannot get my head around why people do not see what a fantastic player McKimm is.

It was very hot out there today, but of course, that should not worry the players, should it?

Fleet are quite a handy team, with pace up front, but windy at the back. Their no. 2 out on the wing was very good. We have a need to build a bit more from midfield. Played too far back today, hence a great amount of work from the forwards that came to nowt.

We are still in the frame, and can put all this to bed on Tuesday. But we need to work on keeping the ball better, passing more accurately, and servicing the forwards better, rather than do the long ball thing and expect them to do it all themselves. We have lost a bit of simplicity. Plus we did not have anyone available to take the rebound, when we got the ball in the box and made efforts on goal.

Abbo had a good game??? You must have been watching a different game to me June.

I dont recall him getting a pass on target all game.

He was awful. He lost possession countless times too.

No applause as he was subbed said it all.

McKimm just wanders around aimlessly and Lee wasnt much better today.

One shot all game against a lower division side is not good enough.

I too was not Jay's biggest fan, but he does put the effort in which might rub off on some of the others.

Dave.

words said by Margate fan :I cannot get my head around why people do not see what a fantastic player McKimm is:.

:We have a need to build a bit more from midfield :.

In no disrespect to Margate fan these don`t add up, Mckimm is Midfield but does nothing as he is always 2nd to the ball, he has no pace , and spends alot of his time following Proths around , he should be trying to create holes for Proths to feed balls through to DH & JP but he works so close to his team mates we all end up bunching togther. Jay in 4 sure , put Mckimm on bench & make them realise there places are not set in stone & can be taken.
