Hampton Traffic Info

If you are planning to drive to Hampton tomorrow and are intending to head south on the M25 then up from Junction 9, beware that when I was in the area yesterday delivering fridges and washing machines (don't ask!) the A243 was shut causing mega jams as traffic was diverted via Oxshott and the A244. It may have been just for one day and I was in the rush hour, but check before you set off and either use Junction 10 and follow signs for Hampton Court Palace or find a M25 north route.

Of course the stress free way would be to use the coach - as long as the driver checks their travel info regularly and doesnt try to go up Leatherhead Road via Hook too !!!

Oh well, just have to make sure we have enough tins on the bus!

But it leads onto a little topic here..Best and worst coach journeys!! The best journey in terms of getting there with no probs was when we went to Havant and Watersville the coach was fitted with Sat Nav.

The worst, well remember going to Farnborough, the coach driver took a wrong turn into a council estate with the roads being typically fifties built (no room to swing a cat) and he could not get outta there! Then there was Kingstonian !!! Leeroys coaches!! - Anyone else??

That was hilariuos. We went from Kingstonian FC to the M25 without headlights. We hit the M25 and the bus was finally illuminated. Then a floor panel started hovering ghost like, whilst smoke came out from beneath. The inevitable breakdown happened. Somehow the driver managed to get it going again and we made it home.

The best one though was the Basingstoke 'bus of death'. Driver was a Rod Steward look-a-like and didn't take his shades off all day, even when it was pitch black outside! Needless to say we did 5 laps of Basingstoke first!

You gotta laugh though..Why is it that "some" coach drivers (who my assumption drive for a living) turn up, we all board the bus and then he waits for folk to sit down and then says "where we off to" Priceless !! Some of them you would think get dragged off the street and told sit behind the wheel and hope !! It has been known for a driver to circuit Billericay on the way home!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laughuncontrollable.gif" alt="" />

Some of those journeys bring back memories.

I remember going to Kettering a few seasons back and going through the place a good couple of times before establishing where the ground actually was. Like keith says, it amazes you that some drivers don't plan ahead.

What about that mini-coach to bedford that time - did it get labelled the 'happy bus' or something after we got drubbed but sang for the whole game and were even given sandwiches and snacks by the bedford directors - priceless!
