According to a very angry Mr Ford on Radio Kent, when the Boxing Day game was called off, Mr Hatch did a runner while the other players went training at " a local rec". He has not been seen, or heard from, since. He was not at Dagenham today, and attempts by Andy to contact him have "been to no avail".

Andy also said Liam was "very near" to being fit to play.

Could the lanky one's bizarre actions have anything to do with a rumoured, and only alleged, illegal approch direct to him from a club known by some as the "Super Hoops" of West London?????

LH is, of course, a one man rumour generating machine. Other blinding stories have him working in Boots(or should that be playing in boots), moonlighting as a Phil Mitchell-esque doorman at various Gravesend hostelries, including the Trocadero, and having various horizontal liaisons with anything with a pulse(age not a barrier to entry).

Apart from Andy's quotes on Radio Kent, all of the above are only scurrulous rumours and could not possibly be true. Or could they.............

A combination of the radio report and the rumours I have just read in the previous messages do not auger well for the club. As it appears that a good 80% of our supporters have been expecting a turn about in the fortunes of the team with the return of a fully fit Liam Hatch, there could be a lot of disappointment if our star in the making doesn't in fact play. I hope that any problems can soon be resolved. I was glad to read that Rob Owen may soon be fit enough to play as he is a very committed player and could help to provide the crosses we are clearly not delivering ( Tosteo excepted in the limited role he has been permitted to play ) to our strikers.

Also heard the report this morning on Radio Kent, Andy sounded very p----d off as i am if all this is true, this club has done a lot for Liam and stood by him, lets just hope that it blows over, getting slightly worried by the comings and goings and i hope Liam and Andy sort it out pronto.

It also made the Headline News on the BBC Teletext Local Sport Pages (Page 390) for the South East, yesterday (Monday) - not exactly the sort of headline news we want to be getting.

Hopefully its all a misunderstanding or a simple breakdown in communication, but who knows?? And I dont think we should be told the ins and outs of the matter anyway - its an internal issue for the club to sort out.

It sounded more of a case of Andy being frustrated by a player who has a lot of support from the supporters , The manager is often seen as the bad guy and I think Andy was trying to show the fans what he has to put up with sometimes.

That's not a million miles from the truth. I've just got off the phone with Andy. Liam went to Scotland to see his father, and is now back and is back in training.

His knee has healed and he just needs now to get back to match fitness. He will play in the reserves on January 8th as will Rob Owen, and hopefully both will be available for selection with the first team shortly.
