We think some of our fans are apathetic...

...but I fear for Grays if this is the attitude (from their forum) after only two defeats... They're not best supported when they're on a roll, if they have a sticky patch in mid-table, can you imagine?!

More worrying for me was the reaction of my two kids. Normally they are quite keen to come out and support the lads and they were up for the trip out last night. After the match all they could go on about was how 'pants' the game was and it was even worse than the Burton game. In short, they are not that keen on coming with me to see the next game (they are 11 and 13).

Talking about stupid things fans say I thought it was a little thoughtless for those that sing to stand there and start singing "let him die" as one of their players lay on the ground injured last night. This it a pretty stupid chant at the best of times but given what went on on Saturday, a player died while playing for Hinkley United, it makes it, along with those singing it, look a little stupid.

I didn't want to make a big deal out of it but thought it shouldn't have gone unmentioned.

Harry J.....policing the terrace chants so that we can all live in a safer world !!

To be fair to the lads that were singing it, it is a fairly common terrace chant and I am sure that no disrespect was meant.

I had the "pleasure" of standing in the side terrace in the first half last night (usually I am behind the goal), what a strange experience that was. Most of the people were quite normal, but the people standing behind me were moaning most of the half....

...and the strangest one of all was when one of our defenders headed clear from a Grays attack, the bloke moaned that we were playing the long ball again !!! 'kin hell, the player was clearing the ball !! Maybe the gentleman would have preferred it if we had conceded possession and a goal, then he could have realy moaned !!

Stood at the other side in the corner in the second half.No moaners there !

Cheers,

Their fans are awful, they really do expect to win every game and win the league, there is a thread on their board about having lost the league already. All we did was play to a game plan and beat them, closed them down and they ran out of ideas, I hope more other teams can see this and start beating them more.

On the case of moaners, the usual very vocal moaners that stand up behind me were all behind the team last night, shouting positive comments and encouragement rather than their normal insults.

But it's also a moronic one at all times, regardless of whether or not a player has died on the pitch a few days previously.

One only has to go back to last season, when a Margate fan was forced to apologize sheepishly on this forum after doing exactly the same thing when Jacko was down injured in the KSC match.

Football fans are a fickle bunch, as we probably all know. Up one minute, down the next. I thought the fans got behind the Fleet from the off last night and I was disappointed with Grays performance and their fans never really shouted much. I agree it was wrong for the chat mentioned above to be made too. Mind you looking back in retrospect is wonderful at times!!!!!

I dont like the "Let Him Die" chant .

Was it not the same group who moaned when (I Think Margate but Stand To be Corrected) visiting supporters played The Death March a few seasons back.

Shouts of "Its a Miracle" when someone recovers form a seemingly carear threataning injury are worthy of a chuckle though.

There was no reason for that let him die chant at all, Last year as stated there was all hell to play when Jimmy was hurt against Margate and they started doing the death march or whatever it was,Not standing to far away at the time it looked to me as if the stewards stop a minor scuffle over the incident. Then Tuesday night our own fans act in the same manner, RATHER TWO FACED GUYS!!!!!!! dont you think ?

Fair comment.......but then over 50% of general football chants must be classed as moronic ?

Having listened to some of the output coming from the drum area on Tuesday night, I can only concur.

Not really.

The 'if you are a canvey fan you must be fu***** bent' has been changed to 'if you're not a gravesend fan...' That sounds better.

We havent sung build a bonfire in ageeees (probably a good thing)

But we did ask if Grays were Canvey in disguise. Does that count?

On the subject of the singing of our fans:

It was depressing to hear them (as usual) abusing the opposition, rather than getting behind our lads. Surely, this only encourages our opponents to be that bit more determined.

It was also ironic that, when one of our players stayed down in their area, when he got back to his feet, the Grays fans applauded him, whilst many of our fans by the drummer didn't!
