Another Win

Another good result from another pretty good performance. With Hornchurch only getting a point its been a reasonable day of results, though as expected Harlow and Wealdstone bounced back from Boxing Day. With it getting very tight in the race for second the outcome of the Harlow - Hertford game is going to take on huge significance and I just hope the league don't bottle it and get the match replayed.

Good performance again from Spencer who is starting to impress. Byron was quiet which is unusual and Williams continues to disappoint. Well played Tony Boot, two well taken goals. Just hope the arguement between Browne and Sammy doesn't cause us any problems. We've already lost one good stiker due to managerial incompetence.

Three points on New Years Day and we're well and truly back in the hunt.

Come on you rebels!

Popped along today to see how Gary Mac & Byron were getting on, and have to say I was quite impressed. You seemed to win comfortably and it seemed there was more in the tank. On that, you'd hold your own if you'd do the decent thing and get back in the Premier Division.

I thought Tony Boot took his second goal very well, and the defence was very solid.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

We were not great today, but Marlow are one of the better sides in the division as they have beaten Northwood and taken Bishop Stortford to a replay.

Did not play as well as Thursday, but 2 games in three days is tough and we were without Gilkesy and Palmer.

I thought that Metcalfe was easily the best player on the pitch followed by Daly, Boot and Spencer. Metcalfe's pass for the goal was excellent.

Williams was a little quiet as was Byron and we were not at our best, but three points is all that matters!

I didn't think it was a particularly good performance, but it was good enough--Thursdays performance was far better. Since at Xmas we normally loose, without any spirit, to local opposition, it was enough to send me away happy. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/bounceblue.gif" alt="" />

Point about the Harlow game, word from our secretary is that it will have to replayed.

As for our performance today, we've got a decent enough playing surface, so why don't we use it? We only played football in spells yesterday and seemed happy to match their long ball tactics with big long punts of our own which doesn't suit us (Although it has to on some grounds due to the state of the pitch).

When we did play neat, incisive football, we took them apart. Unfortunately, it didn't happen often enough yesterday. But a win is a win and six points from our 'local' rivals who would have been well up for it is a sign of our improvement.

"Marlow are one of the better sides in the division..." - do me a favour, apart from Lee Carroll they don't have a player that would get in to any of the top 10 sides in your division, I've seen them five times this season and they are dire, you just made heavy work of beating an ordinary side!

They work hard and they play hard, but apart from that, we lowered ourselves to their level yesterday and played to their standard.

They're not good, and although Carroll did make a few other saves, we did make very hard work of churning out a result against an ordinary long ball side.

I've just 'ad a go at you fatboy on the Hertford site and anyol'ways I'm orf now to me mums for sunday scran...so stop followin' me around these forums...Now then....The result will get decided by the league committee after an explanation has been forthcoming...the standard answer to these fllodlight failures is.... 'the time switch was faulty and we couldn't get in the control room to deal with it'...which is all total b******s of course so we'll see what the governing body is made of shortly. If there is any justice at all, the points go to Hertford and the apemen get a fine and a good bo******g.....we shall see...we shall see...All clubs should be responsible for hosting the game according to, and within, the current rules...that means having satisfactory and safe floodlighting.....therefore whatever happens next...Harlow failed to abide by the rules. Or If they didn't have access to the floodlights (pigs do fly sometimes I suppose) then they had no right allowing the game to proceed. It should have been re-arranged until they did have access. Whichever way it comes down. Harlow were wrong. If the Committee have anything about them at all.........justice will prevail......we shall see...we shall see...if it doesn't...get your old floodlights on a time switch fatboy and just bide your time until your gettin' stuffed at 'ome and then you know what to do duntya....that's the message that goes out if the game is replayed....
