Questions for Riverview Red & Mr Formerly White Van Nistleroy

Recommended Posts

1. Were you there tonight?

2. Do you agree that what we saw was a really well coached side?

3. Did you notice the team spirit & sense of shared responsibility?

4. If you answered yes to the above, do you agree that credit for this has to go to the management?

5. If you were there, did you like myself & many others remain at the end to applaud the best Fleet peformance in years?*

6. Do you admit that, on tonight's showing, you might have got it all totally wrong about the direction the Fleet are taking?

7. Do you feel just a tad embarrassed about the relentlessly negative nature of your past postings?

8. Would you secretly rather that we had been totally outplayed, so you could sit back & luxuriate in your superior understanding of how LD & AK had wrecked the side?

Sorry, ignore the last 2 questions. Not fair of me. I'm just a thesaurus reading vulture, without an original thought inside the head which I curently have buried in the sand, thereby hiding my rose tinted spectacles. (Apologies, Gary. I know you put the Fleet before your own opinions, just couldn't help an allusion to your most famous imagery.)

*In terms of organization & professionalism one of the best I can recall. Surpasses our win against Fatboyking, kick them in the dark bits Stimson & the phantom floodlight climber at Canvey, during our championship season.

Have you got a list of this year pointless postings? Do any of mine feature on there? Sorry that should be how many of mine feature on there?

Anyway perhaps you didn't read "Old Len's" post, there was lots of points in there so it was hardly pointless.

I'm not saying people should not debate but some of the post's from people have been a little too negative. It just seemed one or two had an agenda against the club, not just unhappy with the football but the people that run the club.

I dunno Gary, he has a point about RR. You and even WVN to some point have acknowledged that things are going well and fair enough.

But I only notice RR raising his head above the parapet when he's got something to moan about, the last time I recall being when we'd lost to York and he claimed this side was in no way better than last season's. Not a peep from him since.

I cannot speak for RR & WVN, but last year I harped on about the need to play a passing game & ditch the route 1 stuff.
This year we have done just that, are playing magnificent football and are getting great results.
Why would ANYONE be complaining?

Thanks for the arrogant dismissiveness of your opening sentence, Gary.

OK, I was gloating a bit & might have been a little more polite, but with all due respect, I think there are clear enough points to my posting, which are:

1. Surely on last night's showing the "Daish Out" argument is settled. Yes, one win doesn't make the manager a genius, but it's the manner of the win. That was a well coached side beating a team whose individual players are rated more highly than ours and we beat them because our manager out thought theirs & had his side better prepared.

2. RR & (last season) WVN constantly told the rest of us that Liam Daish was ruining the club & was a total incompetent when it came to producing a team which looked as if it knew what it was doing. If we were losing games, they'd be ramming that message down our throats & accusing those of us who saw signs of hope of wearing rose-tinted spectacles. Surely it's not amiss to ask if they have modified their opinion?

Maybe we played route 1 stuff last season because we weren't good enough to stop sides closing us down so tightly that it became our only option. Liam would not suddenly change his philosophy. I heard him on numerous occasion last season yelling at the team to "pass it." They simply couldn't, or if they did it petered out as we were closed down yet again. Last night he twice urged the side to pass it when we had been under a bit of pressure & the team did just that, keeping possession, buying time to re group & then taking it forward under control, putting the opposition on the back foot. With all due repect to the players who have gone, as a team we just couldn't do that last season. As FF has said more than once, let's judge Liam once it's his team. Well it is now. And on last night's showing, what a team too.

Apologies for my glib comment, but you will agree that everyone has been staggered by the remarkable turn around this season. Even the most rose-tinted supporter couldn't have predicted this.

I am still not convinced we couldn't have done better last year, but that is history. Hopefully we can look forward to a decent cup run & who knows, push for a

top 8 finish
