To not have a shot on target all night makes one wonder again whether £12 is a little excessive.

How much does it cost to watch spurs lose ?

You don't get it do you - Saints are punching well above their weight, this is romance, adventure, something not dreamed of not long ago when city were playing 3 leagues down.

But then when did an accountant have any heart ?

Well done - you managed to wind me up <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

For the neutral, a very entertaining game last night with quality football, particularly from Woking who were half-a-yard quicker in every sense throughout, with very good ball control etc. etc. as should be expected from full time players. The better team won but we certainly made 'em think.

We started with three at the back, Theobald, Magnus and Elphick; Flynn and Matt 'Matty' Hann as wing-backs; Seeby and Davis in the middle; Clarke in front of them, and Hakim [to be pronounced Haykim, I gather] and Sozzo up front. Elphick suffered a hamstring thingy [in the] first half, Wilde came on and we reverted to 4-4-2.

The level of commitment and work-rate by The Mighty Saints was terrific and we put in a large number of crosses, not only from corners, but it was one of those games when the strikers barely got close to any of them. The statistics above tell the tale.

Recognising that we are up against full-time players, to take anything from games like that - anything apart from 'the positives', of course - we have to take our chances and we didn't last night.

Bastock made two terrific saves from Craig MacAllister at close range [in the] first half and had a good night. I like the look of Magnus but Tom Davies won the MotM award, deservedly in my view. The defence did well throughout. The attacking players need to think about it.

I don't know anything about football.

who makes this crap up <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

re: stats above

so theobald s header in the first half and hakks hakkers h hakims shot at the end didnt count, absolute piffle

btw the best team did win, if it hadnt of been for englands no.1 could have been more.

Someone said 72% possession in a thread below. It probably was, for them. Yer man Davis - the one with the pony tail - was quite outstanding. If we'd had him, we'd have won by a lot more. Mind you, if they'd had our forwards, they might well have won.

We won easily on corners!

This is something the Lord needs to work on - it was the same last year; loads of corners with no goals

didnt Theobald score from a corner just over a week ago?

No goals was a bit of an exaggeration (or hyperbole even)- but we do seem to have a poor return for the number of corners we win.

Edit: On second thoughts I was grammatically correct - There were loads of corners from which city did not score any goals. On the the other hand there were a few corners from which city did score. (gosh I wish there was something worth watching on TV tonight)

I got to my first Saints game since getting to England a few weeks ago. We seemed to try to find a way through the defence with short passes a lot when a few shots taken sooner may have worked out. Oh well, my tuppence worth. Easy to say afterwards anyway. I was impressed with the players. They moved the ball around pretty well I thought. As was said, killed them on corners. Looking forward to getting to another game soon.
