Grays Athletic

I was behind the dugouts. No doubt, we were in charge on & off the pitch tonight. Liam was talking all the time & the players were listening to him. It was all about shutting them out at the right moment before they could build anything dangerous, with players being in position to anticipate helping out a team mate. The fitness & movement of the whole team was a revelation.

Frank Gray was quiet & nonplussed throughout, as if he knew he was onto a loser. His team clearly are not used to the kind of pressure we put on them tonight & whilst they kept going, working to get back in it, trying long ball, keep ball, the quick break, I was only worried once & that was when McClean was put in & shot wide seconds before Debolla settled it.

I have some video clips which I'll upload tomorrow. Neither goal is captured vey well, but worth a viewing to appreciate the atmosphere & to see & hear a Fleet crowd in full voice again.

Superb work rate, got right under their skin, played some good direct football, deserved to win,

generously gave Grays maybe 10 minutes, shame it wasnt 3-0, no injustice if it had of been.

As well as everybody in the fleet team played, they were all stars tonight, mom surprise surprise Liam Coleman

Surely someone must disagree

Is this the turning of the tide?

Await with baited breath.

Having come on here previously to voice concerns over the formation, I have to say - I was wrong!

The back three were fantastic, the midfield covered, harried and fought for everything. Other than the last ten minutes of the first half, we totally bossed the game and frustrated everything that they attempted.

I agree that anybody could be given MOM and concur that Coleman was a revelation. I also thought that De Bolla got through an astonishing amount of work for the whole 90 mins, Ricketts made some important challenges and Luke never gave them time to settle.

But I would give my vote for MOM to McCarthy for the way he organised and marshalled the defence. We were as solid as I can recall us being against a very good side

Roll on Saturday

The full time thing is a really good point. I was thinking that if this game was in seasons gone by, Grays may have got back in to it in the last twenty minutes.

Not due to lack of effort on our part but because we used to tire so badly the other teams gained heart from it.

This was not a problem last night and that can only be a good thing.

We bossed the game pretty much all the way through and everyone went home happy - except those from Essex!

Keep it up lads!

It was great to come back to Stonebridge Road last night and see a fine performance by Gravesend. Since I left Northfleet to live in Abbey Wood my visits have been restricted, also became a Charlton season ticket holder in the meantime!!! Sorry. Think that Liam Diash has build a good team for this season and if they can finish in the top 10 then I feel progress would have been made. The move to full time has obviously helped, and I hope the good form continues.

ive got to say that is one of the best games ive been to apart from maybe the canvey game when we won in the ryman but the atmosphere was great and the team really played well all over the pitch from goalie to striker. As always Luke Moore ran his heart out and as always charlie scored from in the area and Debolla scored from outside the area. Up the Fleet 1 place out of a play-off position a win against Exeter should give us that and i fell after tuesday night we can secure another 3 points against Exeter <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
